It is August 11, 2015 and I am getting this message on two different PC's .
MBAM version is 2.1.8.1057
The two failing PC's are Win 7 64 bit
The working PC is XP 32 bit.

There are many possible reasons for the "unable to access server" message.

First thing to check: the system date and time on the affected systems.
Also, please make sure you are logged in to Windows with an Admin user account, not a Limited User Account (LUA).

If that doesn't resolve your issues.....

This is a very old thread based on a long-outdated version of MBAM.

So it would be less confusing and easier for us to provide customized help if you would please do the following:

1) For ONE computer at a time, please read the following and save to your computer's desktop the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
2) Then, please start your own NEW, SEPARATE topic using this clickable cjfj.png button.

3) Please ATTACH all 3 logs to that new post.

The staff and experts will be able to more easily provide you with individual help to get you up and running.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

Thanks for the advice. (SOLVED)

Yes, opening MBAM (Run as Administrator) allows the updates to work on both Win 7 PC's.

Confusing that my personal PC has MBAM PRO and has been running good as a Standard user up until recently.

Apparently an MBAM update has changed things and added a difficulty.

I changed the MBAM start Icon (in Program files) to permanently "Run as Administrator".

SInce my MBAM PRO autostarts when windows starts, my question now is:

When I boot up into my main "Standard User" account, will MBAM be running as Administrator now?

The other PC is using MBAM Free and is not an issue.

I changed that start Icon to run as Administrator.

If you still need me to pursue logs, let me know,

I will keep an eye on my personal PC MBAM PRO to make sure it is updating OK..

Hi:

Glad you found your post -- it appears that a forum mod/Admin had split it off from the other thread....

The QA team is working on several reports of "new" LUA behavior in version 2.1.8.1057, involving update checks and malicious website protection.

Bottom line: Devs/QA are aware.  Changes may be forthcoming with a future version.

In the interim, MBAM should be installed and configured from an Admin account, as always.

Scheduled tasks (update checks and scans) can be set to run silently from the system account.

That would make it unnecessary for LUAs to perform any tasks.

In theory, at least, LUAs are not supposed to be able to do much to make any changes to the program, for the sake of safety.

If you need further help with this or any other issue, please do post back with the 3 Diagnostic Logs, for one system at a time.

Thanks again,

Just to add, this is not a good idea, as it has been known to cause other issues.
