Update Notifications Not Working Since Upgrading To Win10

Recommended Posts

Hi,

As requested I have started this thread to ask if the update notifications work in Win10.

I have not been notified of any updates on two machines I've upgraded from Win7 x64 SP1 to Win10 x64.  The rest of MBAM is working fine and scheduled scans are running as expected.  I am only enquiring about the update notifications.

Thanks

Hi, Krusty:

The first thing to check would be the Advanced scheduler settings for your scheduled update task.
The attached screen shot shows the setting in question.

If that doesn't explain or resolve the issue, then we suggest the following, preferably for ONE computer at a time:

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Hi:

Thanks for the update.

We have not seen (m)any similar reports here in the forum.

So, it may not be a known bug.

The first step in these cases is to perform a clean reinstall, as previously suggested.  That usually resolves most minor issues.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, then the QA team would most likely request the same diagnostic logs that were previously suggested.

But it's up to you...

Cheers,

Hi:

It's not "experimentation". ;)

Rather, a clean reinstall is often the easiest and fastest way to resolve minor issues (such as corrupted settings) that might occur under many conditions, including performing an on-top upgrade of the Windows OS.

If you check the forums here, you'll see that this procedure has been used 100000s of times, most often with success in resolving the problem.

If the clean reinstall does NOT resolve the issue, then the extra information -- in the form of diagnostic logs -- is needed in order to troubleshoot.

And, yes, the tools are compatible with Win 10. :)

Thank you again,

Hi:

Yes, it is compatible, even if the page at bleeping is not yet updated.

If you search these and other fora, you'll see that it's been run many times on Win 10 systems.

The recommended troubleshooting is this, but if you prefer to skip the clean reinstall and proceed directly to step #2, that's fine.

Please do so for only one computer at a time:

  • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
  • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

EDIT: It would also help to see a PROTECTION log posted here as an attachment, even though your post suggests that the updates are running and that it's just the notifications that are not working.

Thanks again,

Guys, I appreciate the advice but at this stage I am only after a yes or no answer from someone who knows.  Either the notifications do or don't work in Win10.

If the notifications do work on Win10, just not my machines I can then diagnose, OK?

They've not worked for me either in Windows 10.

Krusty, I can confirm that the update notifications work for me on my Windows 10 Pro virtual machine.  I updated it from Win10 preview which was working before as well.  After the upgrade to Win10 Pro and all windows updates, Malwarebytes is still working and also notifying my of database updates.

Up to you how you want to trouble shoot, but a clean re-install as mentioned in post #8 above usually solves issues such as this one.

Also if your going to want help resolving the issue, we/staff will need to see those diagnostic logs that were requested.  The tools are safe to use and are completely compatible with Win10.

Hello--

Just to add to what Firefox said above, our QA team has tested and verified that the update notifications for scheduled updates do indeed work as expected after an upgrade to Windows 10.

If you're not seeing this behavior it's best to do a clean reinstall and if that doesn't help, then provide the diagnostic logs as everyone's suggested.  This helps so that we have all the necessary detail on any environmental issues that could be contributing to the problem, so we know exactly what to look for on other systems if we start to receive more reports of the same.

Hello Guys,

After reading Firefox and bdubrow's replies I can happily report that I have completed a clean installation of MBAM on my machines and can confirm the Update notification is indeed working, at least on one machine.  I suspect the second machine will also show Update notifications when I'm in front of it at the time.

Thank you to daledoc1, David H. Lipman, Firefox and bdubrow for your help and advice.

dprout69,  may I suggest you also perform a clean installation of MBAM and see if that also solves your problem.

Once again, thanks to all.

- Krusty.  :)
