Autoupdate & Manual update not working

Mbam and all files associated with it are in my firewalls trusted zone as they have always been.

Well that could very well be the issue. Please read through those posted suggestions and follow them exactly as shown.

Otherwise we'll need to dig in and locate what is blocking it but that will take a lot longer and many scans and logs vs doing the clean removal and putting in the correct files. The firewall should only need mbam.exe in the list as the other do not call out to the Internet.

Let me know what you'd like to do and I'll be happy to assist you, but I would suggest following the directions in the FAQ first as it has corrected it for 99% of everyone so far that has posted about it.

I disabled my firewall and mbam still wouldn't update. Everything else works fine no matter if firewall is enabled or not.

Nothing freezes so that's not the problem, and everything with mbam has always worked even with it in my firewalls trusted zone.

Is there anything else I can try since the only thing left on the help page is to uninstall completely reinstall etc.... and I'd rather try something else before I go through that whole hassle.

I double checked my firewall and the only mbam files listed in it are:

MBAM.EXE

MBAMGUI.EXE

MABAMSERVICE.EXE

Same as it has always been even when updates were working just fine.

I still think it's a windows service that I disabled that caused this because immediately after I disabled some of those services that's when Mbam's auto update and manual update's stopped working.

I don't know I'm in your hands so what step do you suggest next?

Thanks for the help so far.

Well you could use a network sniffer and see whats happening with the traffic. If you're not experienced with that then please post some logs as shown below and we'll scan for Malware as that is very common now days that they block updates.

Scan and post logs - read note at bottom in green

If you're having Malware related issues with your computer that you're unable to resolve.

  1. Please read and follow the instructions provided here: I'm infected - What do I do now?
  2. If needed please post your logs in a NEW topic here: Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs
  3. When posting logs please do not use any Quote, Code, or other tags. Please copy/paste directly into your post and do not attach files unless requested.
  • Please do not post any logs in the General forum. We do not work on any logs posted in the General forum.
  • Please do not install any software or use any removal/scanning tool except for those you're requested to run by the Helper that will assist you.
  • Using these other tools often makes the cleanup task more difficult and time consuming.
  • If you have already submitted for assistance at one of the other support sites on the Internet then you should not post a new log here, you should stay working with the Helper from that site until the issue is resolved.
  • Do not assume you're clean because you don't see something in the logs. Please wait until the person assisting you provides feedback.
  • There are often many others that require asistance as well, so please be patient. If no one has responded within 48 hours then please go ahead and post a request for review
  • NOTE: If for some reason you're unable to run some or any of the tools in the first link, then skip that step and move on to the next one. If you can't even run HijackThis, then just proceed and post a NEW topic as shown in the second link describing your issues and someone will assist you as soon as they can.
