I'd like to see a few improvements to the Mac client, which I don't believe are currently available.

 

1. The ability for users to be able to run the software without an administrator account/credentials. Not sure if this is possible, as I would assume it needs to be able to remove files in a location that require administrative privs. Many users aren't machine admins, which is where this would come in handy.

 

2. Add a command line script/option for automated removal. This would make remotely running the software a possibility.

1 - You are correct that it sometimes needs to be able to remove files from locations that require admin privileges to do so. It should only ask for an admin password in those cases, and should not ask if it's not necessary. Also, note that it can be used just fine from a non-admin account, so long as an admin username and password is provided when requested.

 

Of course, that's not much help when the user doesn't actually have access to an admin user, in which case:

 

2 - This, among other more advanced features, will be added in future products, such as a version of the tool for businesses. I can't say anything specific about the timing of those products, other than that we're planning to release some later this year.

Idea for the next version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac

 

Add the ability to select a drive (like if you mount a mac drive so it can be scanned)

That's also my request!

Plus: I like to see updates, which will install automatically (like Avast updates).

Also an option is, when Malwarebytes will be an Mac-Appstore app: Give my Appstore permission for automatic updates. See the image below.

Just a comment more then a suggestion,

 

But I wanted to say I am very happy to see them branching into the MAC I don't have to use it often but the free version I used on a mac that was infected was able to clean most of the damage done by some of the browser hijacks and it found a few things he had added that were considered PUP's good to see the app available for Windows AND Mac though as it's nice to have familiar tools that you can rely on.

Just a suggestion,

I wanted to say I am very happy to see the MB Team branching into the Mac as use it often and the fact the free version I used on the Mac helped removed malware that my antivirus missed. It would be really cool if the free version had the limited features from next version up instead of the 14 day trial that MB currently offers. 50% of something is better than 50% of nothing.

However, the free versions should always have automatic updates.

Remove the dependency of the Malwareybytes GUI being inoperable if RTProtectionDaemon is not persistent in memory. Perhaps, allow the program to not require this persistence once the model transitions to Free from Trial or Premium. I realize that this maybe a security feature for other potential programs' malicious intent to disable the Real-Time Protection feature but this was not a necessary feature of previous versions 1.x. Now that there's a subscription model for this program, this feature wouldn't be necessary for those users who choose to use manual scan/update and use only those features of the Free version.

A tip about Mac protection

 

Protect from harmful websites and scanners harmful elements (so it's called in MS-Windows) with disk selection and for the moment it would be almost perfect for MacOS version.

(Obviously protecting against malware, ransomware, viruses, pup, etc.)
