Untic Start malwarebytes antimalware when windows starts

Recommended Posts

Hi:

Sorry to butt in...

@gonzo, could you please clarify one detail that isn't mentioned in the UG?

In previous versions of MBAM (perhaps up to 2.0.x?), disabling "start with Windows" disabled ONLY the realtime protection modules from starting with Windows.

IIRC, the *scheduler* service would still run (in the background) upon Windows startup.

(For some peculiar reason, many Premium users who wanted to run the paid version as only a manual, on-demand scanner complained about that behavior.)

IIRC it was at some point mentioned that this behavior would be changed, such that disabling "start with Windows" would disable ALL MBAM services.

So, can you please confirm whether that is now the case, with 2.1.8?

Thanks,

OK, thanks very much for the quick reply.

So, the UG could perhaps be "tweaked" accordingly in the description of that particular advanced setting, to add the additional verbiage along the lines of: "disabling this setting disables ALL MBAM services, including the real-time protection modules and the automated scheduler"????

Thanks again for your helpful info,

Thank You. So, it seems the best and easiet thing for me to do is to keep it ticked. :)

Considering that automated scheduling is a component of real-time protection, <snip>

^^^ Not sure I understand that statement??  The automated scheduler is a feature of the premium version. But I don't understand how the scheduler is a component of "real-time protection"? ^^^

But no matter, as I don't wish to hijack the OP's thread.

Yes, absolutely.

You would want to keep it ticked (enabled).

Otherwise, you will not have any real-time anti-malware protection unless you remember to start the program manually.

Cheers,
