connection problems with a lenovo thinkpad i think it is malware related

 could i get some help with my daughters laptop please. i cannot get an internet connection with wifi or wired connection.seems like premium malwarebytes stopped updating about a month ago and i cant get online to update definitions from malwarbytes premium. all other computers and phones work on this router.troubleshooting error code says something about a proxy server but i have unchecked that box in settings. computer says it is picking up the router but it says no internet connection.im pretty sure it is malware related since she has been using u torrent for movies and 7 year old grandaughter has been playing games on this computer. i have deleted all file sharing programs that she installed i think. looking on google has not helped my issue.
