Scan CD or USB Drive?

Recommended Posts

I have a CD that I burned off my Mac at work, where we have had virus issues on the server lately.

Unfortunately I really need the data on the CD now. I know I can insert the CD on my Windows machine, then scan it using my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Home Premium but is that going to protect my computer from anything lurking on the CD? Will realtime protection protect me? I have autorun disabled of course. Is there a "safer" way to use questionable media? Should I access it from my mac instead? Forgive me if I sound paranoid but I am paranoid.

Thank you much.

Hello lazykins:

You may wish to also scan with your system's quality Anti-Virus application which might detect very old malware or:

File Infectors

Infected Documents

Graphics/Media

Scripted Files

Word Documents

Exploit Code

Some Worms
