Clean your computer in 10 easy steps

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the '10 easy steps' email on June 24th!

I have a question about step 9, 'Reset all of your passwords'.

Step 9 says...

Before being deleted, malware could have captured your passwords and forwarded them to hackers. Change each and every password you can think of, and make sure they’re strong.

I can understand doing this if your passwords are 'in the clear' (not encrypted).  However if your passwords are stored in an encrypted tool such as Norton Identity Safe is it still necessary to reset all passwords?

Hello and Welcome Mortician....

That question would probably best be suited to the individual that sent you the email and was helping you...

In short, if I had malware on my computer and it was cleaned up, once I knew that my computer was safe to use once again, I would change ALL my passwords no matter what software I was using.
