Hello, I was trying to upgrade my version 1.x of Malwarebytes to the latest version. I am using Vista.

But when I downloaded the new version and tried to upgrade, it said it couldn't because the 1.x version was corrupted.

So I tried uninstalling using the Uninstall option with Malwarebytes and Control Panel. It wouldn't install because it said 1.x version was corrupted.

So now I don't know what to do. I cannot uninstall the old version, and I can't upgrade using a downloaded new version - both because the program is corrupted.

Can you please help?

Hello and :welcome: :

It sounds as if you may not have used the removal tool for the uninstall.  So, let's start here:

  • Please follow ALL the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x -- Be sure to reboot when prompted and again, after the new install, for good measure.
  • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
  • NOTE: More info about v2.1.8 HERE; User Guide ONLINE; User Guide PDF; FAQ: Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
