MBAE VBScript alert on top websites under IE (was: Conflict with Apple Trailers website IE11)

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I visit the Apple Trailers website (http://trailers.apple.com/) in IE 11 only to have MBAE block it and say there is an exploit.

This does not seem to happen in Firefox.

MBAE is updated to the latest version.

Firefox is updated to latest version.

Is this an False Positive or an known conflict with the program?

Apologies if i made any mistakes with this post.

First time posting in this forum. :)

Hi casablancajoe, welcome to the forum and thanks for posting.

VBScript has been deprecated by Microsoft some time ago. It is interesting (or ironic depending on your point of view) that Apple is still using it.

Even though MBAE has 2 protections against VBScript (in Application Hardening and Application Behavior Protection layers) if you disable the one in Application Hardening and allow vbscript.dll to load it lowers the bar and you can be more susceptible to infection by exploits. I would suggest turning it off only when you are visiting known and trusted sites that use vbscript.dll or using another browser to visit those sites.
