Today I received an notification of a new update version. I installed 2.1.8.1057 and followed the instructions to reboot. Now the program won't load automatically upon the reboot. Tried several times, no difference. When I manually open it, Vista says the program stopped working and attempts to find a solution. The dashboard interface says I have no real time protection, and neither the Fix nor Scan buttons respond. Either I need a fix or I want to revert to 2.1.6 which worked fine.

Hello and :welcome: :

If rebooting the computer doesn't resolve your issue, I suggest the following:

  • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
    • IMPORTANT NOTE: The MBAM 2.1.8 installer is NOT YET available at the usual download page. So, when you get to that step in the process please use THIS LINK to download it (otherwise you'll be reinstalling version 2.1.6):
      • If you use the NoScript browser extension, you'll need to enable "box.com" and "boxcdn.net"
  • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Thank you daledoc1 for responding. Since I am a premium user, I was going to ask you if your clean removal/install would install the premium version. Then I thought, "let me search for my premium purchase receipt", which I found and then realized I had purchased also a CD version along with the download. Found my CD, so I will uninstall and reload my original version, then upgrade. Thanks for your help anyways!

Hi:

Your CD will have a very old, outdated version of the program.

There is no need to install that old version and then to upgrade.

That is not the best way to go about it and is not recommended.

It is better to perform a "clean" upgrade.

All you need  is the license ID and Key that were sent to you at the time of purchase.

Then, please follow the suggestions in my previous reply for the clean reinstall, using a fresh download of the current program installer.

The installer file is the same for the Free and the Premium version.

You will then ACTIVATE the program to enable the Premium features using the license ID and Key, as shown here.

The full process is here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

It looks harder than it is -- it may help to print out the instructions first.

And the only (temporary) glitch is that you'll need to use a special download link to get the 2.1.8 installer:

  • IMPORTANT NOTE: The MBAM 2.1.8 installer is NOT YET available at the usual download page. So, when you get to that step in the process please use THIS LINK to download it (otherwise you'll be reinstalling version 2.1.6):
    • If you use the NoScript browser extension, you'll need to enable "box.com" and "boxcdn.net"

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
