MBAM not picked up by Secunia PSI

Recommended Posts

Dear all, I've been using Secunia PSI for a couple of days to keep my software up to date. Unfortunately, MBAM is not detected by Secunia PSI, so I sent an email to their support team earlier today. Here is their reply to my email:

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestion.

The vendor has not updated their file information for the suggested software.

Since our scanners rely on the file information to detect the program, we can't detect the program unless the vendor adds the correct file information.

You can of course contact the vendor and ask them to update their file information in their next release, but we cannot create a detection rule for this release since no file from the software contains the correct version information.

OK, so they asked me to contact the kind MBAM folks for help. Is it possible to add the file information to MBAM, so that this program will be picked up by the Secunia PSI scanner?

Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Buddel

Hello Buddel:

The Secunia folks have been steadfast in their practices that certain Windows application's executable file/product versions must conform to a standard they have chosen.

Secunia's PSI, like other update checkers, could have made code accommodations for complex protection applications long ago.

Secunia travels a different road...

Thank you.
