Whew!

THAT was a slog!

Thanks, shadowwar, and thanks to the posters for your patience (I think there might be at least one more, who has been lurking, but not posting:  riri657 ?  I presume s/he will follow this thread for updates).

Sorry this had to wait for the "Big Guns" today to resolve it...

Cheers,

Hello everybody!

I'm also French and I was running on bananas with that problem... My ISP is Free (no problem with it).
Updating MBAM data base was fine up to v2015.06.19.04, and i was stuck with it for days :(

Thanks to oops_mbam!!!
Your solution (host file modification) works perfectly well.

Merci Oops_mbam !

Hi,

Just let you know I have got only a single MBAM update every two days since 06.19.2015. Currently my DB version is 2015.6.23.3 and if things are going on like on the last few days my next MBAM update is planned for 06.25.2015.

Not a big matter as I am using several protection software. Just a bit annoying.

Same for me, also in France: With this line in the hosts file
# 54.230.89.168    data-cdn.mbamupdates.com
(i.e. line disabled)
I can manually update successfully the database file.

It seems that the problem is fixed. Thanks to MBAM technical staff!

@Vauxalm

Please try without the line in the hosts file.

to force a new update you can delete the rules.ref file with mbam shutdown from here:

C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\rules.ref

Then start mbam again and do a manual update without the host modification line added.

@shadowwar: I can't do the test for two reasons:

1) my database is up to date right now : 2015.06.23.05
2) I am not allowed to delete the file rules.ref

But, since I've put a # symbol at the beginning of the line in the hosts file, the information after the # is treated as a comment, not as a host definition.
