You are losing renewals

Recommended Posts

I am a reseller and renewals should have started in April.

I have been selling MBAM for about 5 years. Currently I have dozens of subscribers past the 1 year mark since the subscription model began. MBAM does not alert them when it will expire and they have no indicator how many days remain in their subscription. If I try to call them to say it is time to renew, I have nothing to show them in "My Account", they do not believe me. You are currently loosing renewals daily.

When will this be fixed?

Is the program ever going to alert the end users?

There is no way to tell if a key is lifetime or subscription...not even when looking at the "My Account" tab on the activated premium program. Why not?

The "My Account" panel also does not even show any mention of a subscription or the expire date? why not?

This is all it shows:
Identifier: <key id>
Key: ******
State: Licensed
Activated on : 05/20/2014 10:14:10

The word subscription or lifetime does not even show there anywhere in the user interface.
All show the same minimalistic vague details in "My Account" on the program.

I am also a carbonite reseller and when I activate carbonite, the "My account" window shows it is a Subscription, the activation date, and the expire date. I am expecting MBAM to do the same or I have no way to tell my customer when it expires or what key type it was activated with, especially later on if the machine comes in and I need to service it..

I know what you are go into say "A future update will address this", really? when?

This should have happened the day you started selling subscription keys.

Because of this, I am considering different solutions to sell my customers.

Thanks for any help

Mike

I have a lifetime licesnses, lucky me, so I do not know if MBAM has an auto-renewal feature for subcription people.   Bitdefender has an auto-renewal box that is checked by default when customers purchase a license.  Bitdefefender's customers have been complaining about this for years with some pretty nasty posts on their forum.    Auto-renewal is a great feature as long as it is not turned on by default when a person purchases a subscripiton.   What Bitdefender products do have that is a great feature is their main GUI says "xxx days left".

Hi all!

Thanks for bringing these issues up.  Very timely topic.   :)

We will be posting a patch release shortly that includes several enhancements to licensing, including most of the items you mention:  indicating lifetime vs. subscription, showing days remaining in subscription, and in-product reminders to renew when approaching subscription expiration.

If all continues to go well with testing we're aiming to have this out later this month.

I absolutely understand your point about how this functionality should have been in place earlier when we first switched to the subscription model.  It definitely took us longer than anticipated originally, but we wanted to ensure all our back-end systems were built to support ultimate flexibility and give us more options down the road.  That, and we ended up including some other unrelated items that we needed to fix for better program stability and protection capabilities.

So we appreciate everyone's patience while we've been putting the finishing touches on this release.

Assuming all continues to go well with final testing, you'll be hearing much more about this very soon.  And you'll see an announcement from me on our main News forum when we start officially rolling the new version out.
