windows module installer can't be stopped

Recommended Posts

I can't stop  windows module installer service tells me: the operation could not be completed. the requested control is not valid for this service.

I am trying to stop it thru task manager under services tab,  I right click and click stop and i get that message.

going into the services window  it self doesn't give me the option to stop it its grayed out.

Any help on why would be great. The only changes made to my computer lately has been the removal of GXW and firefox updates.

On rebooting the computer I went checking thru event viewer,  and I seen these messages.

A reboot is necessary before package KB3023607 can be changed to the Absent state.

Package KB2971850 was successfully changed to the Absent state.

I think I might have caused this when I removed the GWX update via the command prompt. I am seeing it on my other machine I removed the update from as well.

The windows module service is now back to manual, and its possible to now stop the process.
