Malwarebytes Premium & Norton Security 2015, exclusions?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, and thank you for taking the time to read my post. :)

I've been using MBAM Pro, and now Premium, for a few years now. I've been using it along with Microsoft Security Essentials, but I decided I want to swap out MSE with Norton Security 2015. Before I pull the trigger though, I wanted to make sure of a couple of things. I know this sort of question has been answered already, but I couldn't find anything recent. Also, I'm asking about "Norton Security 2015" and not the similary (and confusingly) named "Norton Internet Security".

1 - Have any conflicts been reported with these two products? I was only able to find compatibility reports for older Norton products like Internet Security and 360, but not specifically "Norton Security 2015."

2 - What exclusions should I set for both MBAM and Norton Security? Again, I've seen this question answered before, but not for the current version of MBAM and my specific Norton product.

Hello and :welcome: :

MBAM Premium is designed to be run alongside all of the popular AVs.
There ought not to be any problems with your current Norton, as suggested by the lack of recent reports of issues here at the forum.

It's generally not strictly necessary to set mutual exclusions between MBAM and the AV.
Some users prefer to do so, to be "proactive".

And each computer is unique.

If you wish to set these exclusions:
-- You may exclude either the individual Norton executables from MBAM, or the entire folder (example of KIS shown in screen shot below).
-- The MBAM files to exclude in Norton are listed below.

If you have any issues, just post back here and someone will be happy to help. :)

Thanks,

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:

  • 2 weeks later...

I forgot to update this.

I went ahead and Installed Norton Security 2015 and added exclusions the MBAM files listed above. I did not bother to add and exclusions to MBAM for Norton. I've had both programs running in real time mode for about a week now and haven't noticed any issues.

Thanks for the help! :)
