Just installed. Now have problems.

I have Avast Premier but after doing some research installed Malware bites yesterday as I read that it's a good idea to use your programme to do a deeper check for malware. I do not want to run it all the time, only to use it to check on a weekly basis for malware that Avast may not pick up. I also thought it would get rid of Omniboxes which has attached it to probably Google Chrome.


  1. Now I seem to have more problems than before
  2. Surely there should be a simple way to temporarily disable the programme?  If so I can't find it. I have looked on your forums. I have googled and what I have found is so complicated I can't follow it! I am NOT a pc boffin. I have tried right clicking on the pinned icon on the toolbar as apparently it should give me an option to exit. It doesn't!
  3. I now cannot do any searches as this programme blocks every site.

The second reason I bought this programme was to get rid of Omniboxes. It detected it and supposedly fixed the problem, but when I opened Google Chrome, there it was back again.


I have paid alot for your programme and now not only has it NOT killed Omnibox, but has basically rendered surfing the net impossible.



I will now have to uninstall a programme I bout less than 24 hours ago and will probably find that it will be impossible to reinstall if  it goes the way it has been going with this programme.


Please respond ASAP.  Please notify me by email regarding SIMPLE solutions to these problems. In the meantime I am going to uninstall.

Sorry you are having problems.
We will be happy to assist you.
Unfortunately, it will be very difficult to troubleshoot your MBAM installation if you have already uninstalled it.
However, a few observations:

  • If MBAM Premium or Trial is properly installed, then a right-click on the system tray icon will generate a context menu with the option to select "Exit" -- that will close down the real-time protection (see screen shot).  The realtime protection modules can also be disabled from the Dashboard/GUI.
  • If you plan to use MBAM only as a manual, on-demand scanner for occasional scans, then you do not need the paid, Premium version.  The Free version will allow manual, on-demand scans to remove infection already on the system. If you purchased your license from the Malwarebytes online store, there is a 30-day refund policy. However, you will lose the benefit of MBAM's real-time protection to help PREVENT infection.
  • If Omniboxes reappears in Google Chrome after removal, then it is likely regenerating from your Google sync data in the cloud.  Additional measures will be needed for complete removal.  You might need some free assistance with that.
  • We aren't permitted to work on possible malware-related issues here in this particular section of the forum.
    Such work is conducted in a special forum area reserved for that purpose (or at the help desk).

It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the suggested, preliminary steps to expedite the process.

A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue.

The helper will guide you -- for free -- through malware scanning and removal.

The helper can also assist you with getting MBAM up and running properly.

If there are other, non-malware issues after that, the helper may refer you to the MBAM Help section, or to the PC Help section of the forum, as needed.
