Can't one just reformat the drive and overwrite with a drive image from when the computer was new (Acronis backup software, etc)?   Honestly, I applaud the persistence but 17 days of running/posting how many different scans is nightmarish.  I ask because my computer has the same symptoms.  Would it be necessary to use a scrubber-type software prior to overwriting the drive?

One can but you need to ensure you have your documents and any other data backed up otherwise you'll overwrite it and lose that data.

The length of time to repair is often mostly dependent on the user being helped. If you know computers a little bit and can follow directions quickly then often it can be cleaned much faster.

If you're not familiar with Windows and have to frequently ask questions then of course it's going to take much longer to clean the computer.

Thanks
