I've used this app for years and years. In fact, after using it for a month seemingly a lifetime ago. I bought it.

I've been rewarded with the ability to basically seemingly have lifetime premium. Which is great, considering as that is EXACTLY why I bought it. It was priced fairly and I was happy to part with my coin for the added layer of protection.

The only former gripe I had with the application was that it was always a pain to whitelist a website that was blocked by default. I had to continuously add the I.P. to a whitelist by quickly right clicking the taskbar icon and selecting to allow the I.P. Anyway I am glad that this problem has been mostly resolved in future versions of the app.

But enough of that. The point of this thread is to convey my sadness and displeasure at where this app is heading.

I'll start off with:

1. I don't like the look of the app. I don't like the logo, the blue colours or any of it. I don't like the general layout of the app and I don't like the big logos. I don't like how it reminds me of a lot of those fake Anti-Viruses and Anti-Malware apps that used to install themselves with other apps and then try to get you to buy them. It looks like a part of malware in itself... The app looks too 'idiot-proof' with its big text and big logos and it's hard to read anything and see the information that you need straight away because everything just looks the same. Everything is either blue, green or white. None of it goes together well and the app looks like it was made in MSPaint. I know that it's all supposed to be simple and have a low memory footprint. But it looks like rubbish. I liked the older RED version. The old red 'M' and the old app layout was far easier to read and you know it meant absolute business against internet and software nasties. The new app with its blue-on-blue-on-white colouring is a pain on anyone's eyes and I don't for the life of me know why you adopted the 'bubble' look and bubble-fied all of your buttons and such. I wish there was a way to change the theme and make it dark or put it back the way that it was. Almost everything on my screen is dark and I don't like how Malwarebytes stands out so brightly. It might just be a personal gripe but I still think it's a valid one. Also the website looks terrible. Drawings by children? C'mon how are people going to take that seriously? The whole 'family friendly' approach doesn't cut it. Look at Agnitum Firewall. They have pictures of datacenters, big computers, corportate looking webpages. These guys, you take one look at them and you know they mean business. Trust me, you need to find a different, more serious approach to marketing. Teens and kids don't buy your software, and parents don't go looking for software to protect their children that is advertised like a kid's tv show. P.S. The current 'M' logo just looks plain ridiculous. I'm sorry guys, but your simple red 'M' before looked fine and I liked the almost 'oozey' black that was coming from the top left corner. I still have that old installer, and I still miss that old interface... Please don't further try and 'idiot-proof' the application. Instead give users the opition to install the app in 'idiot-proof' mode, or in 'expert' mode.

2. I don't like how you adopted to use a subscription based model. I am just going to be blunt and I hope no one on the team is offended. But I was furious when I saw you guys changed to a subscription based module. I wanted to buy this app for another comptuer of mine and I was really angry to find that you not only bumped up the price A LOT, but you were also charging it based on a time period. I thought your motto used to be that "Security on the web is every man and woman's right". So why did you decide to try and get greedy and charge a subscription based fee to use premium features of the app? Coupled together with Anti-Virus and Firewall applications. It's too much and personally I don't think you have enough with your app to warrant and justify people paying a subscription fee. I bought the app for €15 back in the day and I got it for LIFE. Seemingly. Now you want €23... for 3 PCs for only 1 year? That's ridiculous! Avast! charges less for their whole suite of internet security (with a Firewall + extras)... And they're one of (if not the biggest) names in Internet Security. How can you justify you guys charging just that for Malware and PuP detection software? I'm sorry guys and I love(d) you in many ways, but this is just ridiculous. I'd at least be even somewhat happier if you allowed people to still buy lifetime subscription modules for like €30 or something, and dropped the price down to €15 a year or something. The price you currently charge is not fair. Not even in the slightest. I know business is business but Malwarebytes is at the very most, only a second layer of protection, and you can't charge for just the Anti-Malware app like it's some sort of 'swiss army knife' of security because it's not. Drop your prices, at least by 1/3. Consider the "Buy once, have forever" campaign again and watch potentially hundreds of thousands, if not millions, take to buying it.

3. The forums look terrible. Same gripe as in point 1. Too much blue... They looked way better years ago. Also I can't use my user ID that I registered years ago either. I've tried to log into it at least a million times but it says 'Password invalid' every time. Also when I've tried to recover the account and change the password, I have done so sucessfully and it has never once accepted logging me in with the new password. I've got accounts on hundreds of websites and forums so I know I am not doing anything wrong and my account is not banned when I go to look at it. So it's a problem in your system. Probably because my other account is 5 years old or something. It worked fine to register a new account though and post here.

4. The program is really, really slow and slows down my computer a lot. I know this one is always situational, but the point is. MBAM is really slow these days. I have since changed a lot of settings and a lot of my PCs performance has come back. I am using a good SSD drive with a 4th gen Intel processor and 16GB of RAM. I do have a good PC, but still MBAM was giving me a lot of slowdowns when copying and extracting files. I changed some of the options in the app and well I got a lot of functionality and speed back, but it was still annoying for the some weeks I didn't know what was making my PC so slow. Until I bothered to spend hours narrowing it down to find that Malwarebytes was taking a lot of CPU and HDD priority to scan files in real-time as I access them.

5. Why can't I block notifications just from certain applications? For example, I always get these annoying notifications that I.P. addresses were blocked whilst I was downloading something from uTorrent. Why can't I just tell MBAM to hide ALL notifications from certain apps like that? I don't want to hear about any blocked I.P.s at all from such things. At least in uTorrent I get so many of those blocked notifications all the time..

Anyway, these are just my personal gripes but I am still sad to see MBAM and Malwarebytes Corp going down this path. Really disappointing guys and I hope you get bread buttered the right way soon.

TL;DR

1. The current MBAM app looks like silly 'idiot-proof' fake-malware itself. The green and blue-on-blue-on-white buttons and bright colours look terrible. The older original red 'M' interface was so much better, it looked and felt like it meant business. The new one appeals to no one. The family friendly look appeals to no one. It doesn't remotely look like it's trustworthy and has absolutely no 'premium' feel to it. You guys can do better and you had a much better interface in the past.

2. You canot justify charging €23 a year for just MBAM. It's a second layer of security at BEST. Yet you charge like it's a full fledged Internet Security Suite. Avast! charges for less with their AV that includes a Firewall + many other extras. Though frankly I have the same gripes about Avast these days, but that's another story. Change your pricing scale back to 'Lifetime subscription' for a flat cost. Watch how many hundreds of thousands or even millions of buyers you get. Seriously drop your prices. No exuses at all. Or at least include ALL of your software and seperate apps into 1 thing for €23 /a year. No exuses.

3. The forums need a facelift just like your site and the MBAM app itself. No excuses. They're long, badly displayed, messy and chopped up into too many categories, some of which don't get remotely any posts or activity at all. A better job needs to be done. You should change your provider. (Go with Invision Powerboards or PhpBB or something). You need to advertise more of the fact that you have teams of people here willing to help out users and customers with their problems. Also get rid of the blue, FOREVER. Nothing can be distinguished between with all this blue everywhere!

4. The app is too slow, and slows down machines a lot when installed on default settings. You need to tweak the app more. Allow for an 'idiot proof' mode and an 'expert mode'. Ask users questions about their machines and avoid them getting frustrated or fed up with how much it bogs down the system every time they go to copy or open a file. There needs to be more of a choice in customising how the app works behind the scenes and it needs to be done at the start of the installation so users don't have to go troubleshooting later.

5. Allow us to block notifications of blocked I.P.s and such from just within certain apps. Like uTorrent, so apps like this cannot trigger notifications of blocked I.P.s and/or found threats etc. Without forcing us to turn them off completely, (or even worse, the protection modules).

P.S. Please, don't ever take away the lifetime premium that customers like me purchased back in MBAMs glory days. Such a thing would be illegal anyway in the US as it violates common law.

Thanks for reading, and no hard feelings. But something needs to be done about the state of the site, the forums and the software itself especially.

1) If you don't like the app look, then why don't you design an app that's better than MBAM and see if you get any negative feedback at all? I doubt you get tons of negative feedbacks

2) All antivirus vendor have different prices and features. For instance, Kaspersky charge you over $70 for their internet security while Avast charge you less than that. Second of all, MB needs money to run their business and money is not come from the sky you know? Life time license will be another worse because company will bankrups faster because no one is buying their suite or support their company

3) The forum looks good to me and i don't know what you are talking about, and your issue about your account is something else not related to the forum, and perhaps you forgot your id or password? Thats why i always wrote down my account information on my notebook so i can refer it back later on if i forgot.

4) The program is not slow for me on my computer, so bascially you have a lot of apps startup at one time or maybe you have crappy SSD. My PC specs is I7-4970k @ 4.5ghz, 16GB RAM, GTX 780, 256GB SSD(OS), and 1TB(Storage).

5) Utorrent, i wouldn't trust this application because this application known as malware spreading technique and similar to pirate bay. Did you know that many people got their computer infected from Utorrent and Pirate bay? Because you are basically download a crack file from anonymous user that can put viruses and malwares onto legitimate file you are downloading. Therefore, MBAM block specific IP in order to prevent them from doing harmful things on your computer, and MB will be appreciate if you can provide the virustotal.com scan and the IP block to the MB false positives section hopefully they can fix it right the way.

6) Quantity over Quality. Software performances and detections over the looks, and who give a heck if the software loosk crappy? As long is protect you that all they care.
