Hi,

I installed yesterday a free video editor from chip.de. Unfortunately it came with Registry revival.

When I got rid of Registry revival, and trying to get rid of the popups and co with spybot search and destroy, I landed with speedanalysis.net

Everytime I go on a webpage which is not with login, I get two adds over the surface (one left bottom and one bottom) and clicking to close them to see the page leads to a new tab with SpeedAnalysis.net

Hence, I bought Malwarebytes Antimalware premium, as the trial was helpful in December when I got some malware while getting on the wrong Avira site. It found at the first run about 260 item, at the second 2 items (each run about 30 min) and at the third run when I also removed the video editing software one item. But SpeedAnalysis.net still disturbes my webpages, although I read on online forums that Malwarebytes helps. I also used the software removal from google chrome (this is the browser I am using, and I have windows 8, ie new computer from december), and adwclean, but no result (in this removal, they found some other things though).

I wrote to support but apparently help is in 3-4 days, so thought somebody can tell something faster. My friends who know of computers don't tell anything, ie one told that this is not a virus and it is disturbing but not damaging ...

thank you and kind regards

Maria

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:

  • Limit your internet access to posting here, some infections just wait to steal typed-in passwords.
  • Please be patient. I know it is frustrating when your PC isn't working properly, but malware removal takes time.
  • Don't run any scripts or tools on your own, unsupervised usage may cause more harm than good.
  • Do not paste the logs in your posts, attachments make my work easier. There is a More reply options button, that gives you Upload Files option below which you can use to attach your reports. Always attach reports from all tools.
  • Always execute my instructions in given order. If for some reason you cannot completely follow one instruction, inform me about that.
  • Stay with me to the end, the absence of symptoms doesn't mean that your machine is fully operational.
  • Note that we may live in totally different time zones, what may cause some delays between answers.
  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.
  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

:excl: I can't foresee everything, so if anything unexpected happens, please stop and inform me!
:excl: There are no silly questions. Never be afraid to ask if in doubt!

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Hi,

support has just contacted me! (2 minutes ago or so, I was just about to write you when I received the message)

Shall I run it now or wait for what they say?

They asked for the same files, plus scan and protection protocols from MBAM.

thanks a lot

Maria

Hi,

well, support said that since nothing was found it means that the malware is away. In fact, it is still there, and I sent them some screenshots.

Some observations: https pages are not affected. http pages are affected, also when there is a login (initially I thought the login saves). SpeedAnalysis was popping up however only from .de pages. In fact, some malware in December in Köln also affected these pages, and even the webpage of the working group in Köln was hijacked. This computer I bought there.

Now, many thanks for your fix. I attach the files you requested.

It seems now that SpeedAnalysis.net does not pop up anymore, even from .de pages!

But maybe my description was not precise, because the adds in the bottom left and middle are still there :(

I attach an image as well.

AdwClean seem to have cleaned some new things indeed, I will also put the previous runs.

Shall I open a new topic?

thank you and kind regards

Maria

Yes, I had a proxy problem after getting the malware, I could not access anything, and I had to delete a manually set proxy. But that I got rid of. Thanks for this, who knows when it would have hit again, as also in Köln the proxy blocked that time just my facebook page, later on also google, so I was left to communicate on the phone.

My PC is as in the screenshot, unfortunately, just that it now does not open anymore SpeedAnalysis.net on google pages, but instead now when opening the computer I got a bet page ...

Support sais now to deinstall Google Chrome and install it again. I will try that.

Sorry for the late reply, I had to go to the university, and in the weekend it will get worse, as I'm following a course (6 hours long each day plus travel), with exam on Sunday, and Monday I'm out of the city. This is why I was scared by the 3-4 days.

thanks a lot and will get back

Maria

Yupiiie, this worked! (ie deinstalling and reinstalling Google Chrome).

For you and for those reading the topic for further reference: in December when I got malware, Google Chrome was not yet installed. I installed it after getting the malware, thinking that a new browser might not have it. This probably saved Chrome from getting the add ons installed same way.

Also, in December before using MBAM I used the indications of Chrome of cleaning the browser from malware, maybe the succession is important as well.

A good idea would be to write Google Support about this as well.

thanks and have all a great weekend (not with courses and exams like me)

Maria

The Importance of Software Updating:

In order to stay protected it is very important that you regularly update all of your software. Cybercriminals depend on the apathy of users around software updates to keep their malicious endeavor running.

Operating systems, such as Windows, and applications, such as Adobe Reader or JAVA, are used by tens of millions of computers and devices around the world, making them a huge target for cybercriminals. Downloading updates and installing them can sometimes be tedious, but the advantages you get from the updates are certainly worth it.

Recommended additional software:

icon_arrow.gifTFC - to clean unneeded temporary files.
icon_arrow.gifMalwarebytes' Anti-Malware - to scan your system from time to time in search for malware.
icon_arrow.gifMalwarebytes' Anti-Exploit - to prevent plenty of mostly exploited vulnerabilities.
icon_arrow.gifMcShield - to prevent infections spread by removable media.
icon_arrow.gifUnchecky - to prevent from installing additional foistware, implemented in legitimate installations.
icon_arrow.gifAdblock - to surf the web without annoying ads!

Post-cleanup procedures:

Download DelFix by Xplode and save it to your desktop.

  • Run the tool by right click on the 51a5ce45263de-delfix.png icon and Run as administrator option.
  • Make sure that these ones are checked:
    • Remove disinfection tools
    • Purge system restore
    • Reset system settings
  • Push Run.
  • The program will run for a few seconds and display a notepad report. You do not need to attach it.

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.
