mbae-svc.exe connecting to the internet

Hi,

First, thanks for making this software available free for download.

Now to my question. Sorry if it's been asked before. Searched the forum and couldn't find anything.

Mbae-svc.exe is installed as a service on Win XP/SP3, runs at startup and tries to connect to the internet.

What does this file do? Check for updates?

Just tried blocking it via my firewall and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit still seems to run ok.

Can we disable it?

Yes you are correct, MBAE checks for updates at startup and then every few hours. You can block that traffic and it won't affect the operation of MBAE, but you won't be notified of new available versions and you might miss an important available upgrade.
