Yust a heads up.

Today i was at a customer of mine, and i did a scan with malwarebytes to remove a lot of malware. After the scan, it removed 1644 items. After the reboot, i got no webpage in IE (11) and an error in chrome (DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET), but internet was working. I could ping a site, nslookup was no problem, traceroute was possible.

Trying to run Microsoft Fixit, ive got an error saying C:\windows\system32\abengine.dll File Not found.

After some messing around with SFC /scannow, Reinstalling network driver and even reinstalling IE11, i found out that the removal of Flowsurf by Malwarebytes was the problem. I went trough all the files in quarantine, and restored all the files linked to flowsurf. For some reason i could not sort on file location, so i had to check the whole quarantine list row by row. no fun.

After the restoration of the files, IE and Chrome worked OK., i made a checkpoint and removed flowsurf by using the uninstall in the folder.

Problem solved.

Sorry no logfiles.

Hello and :welcome: :

Thanks for reporting this.
Alas, without logs, I suspect that there is not much the QA department can do at this time. :(

Should this problem or a similar problem recur, we would suggest the following:

  • Please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt); AND
  • Please follow the instructions below to attach the relevant SCAN logs to your next reply, as well.

Thank you,
----------------

How to find and post scan logs:
(Export log to save as a txt file for posting in the forum when requested)

  • Open MBAM.
  • Click on the HISTORY tab > APPLICATION LOGS.
  • Double-click on the SCAN LOG which shows the date and time of the scan just performed (or the one you are asked to post).
  • Click EXPORT.
  • Click TEXT FILE (*.txt)
  • In the "Save File" dialog box which appears, click on DESKTOP.
  • In the FILE NAME box, type a name for your scan log.
  • A message box named "File Saved" should appear, stating that "Your file has been successfully exported".
  • Click OK.
  • Attach the saved log to your next reply.
