OK folks I bought five user licenses for Malwarebytes. Three were from you directly online. Two on disks. I have three desktops and three tablets. One tablet will be sold and is not in use. I know I have one license on my Wife's desktop, and one on her tablet. The other three licenses were on my three desktops I bought and sold for personal use in 2013/2014. My current desktop has been back to the factory three times and it no longer has one on it. My backup desktop is getting a factory restore in preparation for Windows 10, as it and my wife's desktop are the only remaining Windows seven machines. The other four are 8.1.

Now yes I do have my digital receipts for the three I bought. I also have the disks for the two I bought from NewEgg or Tiger Direct I forget which. One of the two disk versions is on my wife's Windows 7 desktop and I know exactly which license is hers as I noted it on the key label. The other disk one has no annotation as to which computer it is on.

So only two of my five MB pro or premium paid versions are accounted for, and I only know the key that is on her desktop. I have no idea which is on her tablet. I am settled down for the long run now, with my keeper desktop and tablet, and her with her desktop and tablet.

I read the post where you answered asking if they had the receipts from Cleverbridge and I do,  as well as having those three and my two disk keys in full.

How do I find which key is on her tablet ( I know which is on her desktop) so I can load the other three on my desktop, backup desktop, and my tablet? I do not need to get keys, as you know if you checked my email on my forum registration about three of them. All I need is to know how to recover my keys for now and in the future when I have to restore to factory one of my systems, or sell one and restore it so no one gets my data, since they are lifetime licenses.

Thanks in advance. We can do this by email if you wish. I love Malwarebytes and put it on all the computers I help friends with. They all start free. But when I tell them it is the only active real time scanner that can be used in conjunction with another active scanning program for double alerting, most get very interested. You have saved my bacon for years with the free versions before I broke down and bought it. I would imagine you folks have a way to help buyers of multiple copies do this.

Hi:

Thanks for your support of MBAM.

But, after reading your post, I am confused.

And the answers to licensing questions depend on whether the license is a 1-PC lifetime license or a 3-PC subscription license.

Can you please be a bit more precise about the question or issue with which you need help?

Thanks!

I have five separate 1 PC lifetime licenses. One of the three from online is on my wife's tablet, one of the two disk's from Newegg is on her Desktop leaving me with two from downloads, and one disk.

Each has an ID number which is XXXXX-XXXXX ten digits separated by a hyphen,

Each has its own key which is XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX sixteen digits separated by hyphens as shown.

I have five sets ID numbers and their corresponding keys. I just need to find out which is on her tablet, annotate it, then install the other three.

Disk 1 = Wife's desktop ( I had it annotated )

Disk 2 = Unknown

Download one directly from Malwarebytes is on my wife's Tablet but I don't know which of the three.

Download two and three unknown as well.

So all I need to do is figure out which one is on my wife's Lenovo Lynx tablet and I can load the other three on my replaced desktop, replaced tablet, and about to be factory restored back up desktop.

Of five licenses I have two I can see loaded on a desktop and a tablet. I only know which key for the desktop. I need to find out which one is on her tablet and then I will know which are still free to load up.

Does that clear it up or muddy the waters further?

My goal is to have all five of my systems protected by the lifetime Malwarebytes licenses I bought.

Adding to what daledoc1 said (and throwing in something new), if you bought before March 2013, that is good for one computer.  Anything in March 2013 or newer is good for three computers.

If you're using version 2.x, go to the MY ACCOUNT section (upper right) and you can get the identifier.  If you do not have the key, contact Malwarebytes Support.  Tell them which IDENTIFIERS you have and the keys that go with them.  They can fill in the blanks BUT they can't do it easily for ones that were not purchased directly from Malwarebytes.

EDIT: OOPS! I guess gonzo beat me to it, while I was typing.

Yes, thanks for the additional information. :)

Alas, the answers are not entirely straightforward.

And the means to directly look up a license that is installed/activated on a particular system depends on whether or not that system previously had a proper, licensed version of MBAM PRO v.1.x installed on it.

(Version 1.x stored license info in the registry, which can be retrieved a number of ways.  Version 2.x does not.)

So, here you go -- it may be "more than you're asking", but it's provided for others who may read this topic:

How to find the license ID and key:

>>The easiest way is to refer to the confirmation email sent from cleverbridge at the time of purchase.

If you no longer have that email or its contents, there are other ways:

  • Contact cleverbridge and have them look it up, as explained here: How do I obtain my license key or confirmation email?
  • Look in the computer's Windows Registry, IFFFF and ONLY IFFFF the system had a paid, activated copy of MBAM PRO 1.x on the system previously, as explained >>HERE<<
    • If you are not comfortable looking manually in the registry, you can run this tool written by our forum Admin, which will do the same thing and create a log file of the results: Get Malwarebytes Registration
  • Contact MBAM Customer Support (they do not normally maintain license and purchasing records): Contact Consumer Support
  • If the license was purchased elsewhere (Newegg, etc.), then you might need to contact them for assistance.

If you have multiple licenses activated on multiple computers and do not have records of which license is in use on which system, then you'll probably need to use the methods listed above to try to sort it out.

(Once you do, you may wish to keep a miniature spreadsheet or list of all your licenses, purchase info, and the computers on which they are installed.)

License Transfer:

Per the EULA, MBAM Premium consumer licenses may be transferred to a different computer in the same household, but not to a different person or outside computer owner.

The process to "transfer" a license is explained here: How do I transfer my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware license to a different computer?

Essentially, MBAM (and the license info) are cleanly removed from the old system using the MBAM removal tool.

This is the only means of a clean removal for MBAM PRO, version 1.x.

(Alternatively, one may open the GUI in version 2.0 > "My Account" > "Deactivate".)

Uninstall help: How do I uninstall Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?

After installing MBAM on the new system, the license is activated to unlock the Premium features, using the existing license ID and Key.

Number of activations per license for the consumer version:

A 1-PC, "lifetime" license can be activated on only 1 PC at a time.

A 3-PC, subscription license purchased after March 2014 can be activated with the same license ID and Key on up to 3 PCs in the same household at one time.

Activation help: How do I activate Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?

Please post back and let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

March 2014?

(And there are some 1-PC, lifetime licenses that were sold after that date, either as an MBAM promotion or from several reputable online sources?)

:) <just sayin'> :)

Gonzo/Michael! That was all I needed. I have all annotated and did not look at the program, just which computers of my computers and tablets had the little blue bowtie on the task bar. I was not looking at the programs to see if there was an identifier. I now know and annotated which was on her tablet and her desktop. She keeps her systems forever, mine got changed a lot when Windows 8 debuted and I bought the discount Licenses.

OK that got me set and yes they are all versions 2.0 and above. Her desktop on behind me, has version 2.0.4.1028.

Last question. If they were on other computers but the computer's hard drives were wiped and factory restored, and are only running on my current systems I assume I will have no issues with the rest since no uninstall was required, and the one tablet that did have one license on it was repaired at the factory and rebuilt without it from a fresh install of Windows 8.1.

While that may seem obvious, I am more used to checking my own files and lists of Software keys to be sure they aren't lost. Whenever I buy a new piece of software requiring activation I add it to the file, Sync the file, shred the old hard copy in my Off Site OMG! digital and paper file. I also image my computers every month after Windows updates, deleting prefetch and CCLeaning the registry (Only then, once a month too) then running CCleaner itself. I also update Flash on my two Win 7 systems soon to be 10 and embedded in IE and Windows. I don't run Java except when scanning checks to our bank and we do that as a load of the then fresh version and uninstall.

But Duh! Can't click on every button on the programs I take for granted for an ID that lead to my key list.

My dog saw what happened, his response?

Daledoc,

Sorry thought I thanked you both and did not. I bookmarked this thread as I am usually the one answering tech questions. I have no problem using regedit. I was just hoping for an easy fix and yours would have gotten me there. But I never checked the my account info. Now I understand the "why" of having both an ID number AND a program activation key.

OK, got them all activated again. One tablet will be wiped and sent in for repair this week as soon as I figure out how I want to back up the data, External flash drive or thumb drive. So thanks again guys.
