Hello there...I was originally posting in the Malware Removal Forum and getting help from TwinHeadEagle...he's actually the one that referred me to this forum as he could no longer help me...So let me begin explaining how I got here...

TwinHeadedEagle was helping me rid my laptop of a virus or 2 that were in my Malwarebytes quarantine...I was following all his directions and something went wrong with my Firefox...it wasn't working at all all of a sudden...I couldn't do anything so I had to uninstall it completely from my laptop and reinstall it...the only thing after I reinstalled it I lost all my bookmarks and everything else that went with it. It took me more than a day to figure out how to get all that back but I did...And TwinHeadEagle said he didn't understand why that happened we did nothing with Firefox...So I think we did a few more scans maybe and I believe he said all was good and had the instructions for me to remove everything he had me put on my laptop during all this process...before I went to remove everything I ran Malwarebytes one more time and I got a Blue screen and everything past so fast and it shut down on me and less than 30 sec it was rebooting but giving me a option to reboot normally or in safe mode or in safe mode networking...I chose safe mode networking...once it finished rebooting I got a pop up window...(I'll post 3 attachments of that pop-up window)...Once TwinHeadedEagle saw those attachments he had me run WhoCrashed and I posted that log for him and he said "This report indicate that there is something bad going on with your hardware, probably hard drive malfunction" and I asked if he had any reccomendations and he sent me here. So I'll run another WhoCrashed and post that log as well as those 3 attachments in hopes that maybe someone can help me. I really would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Hello DoeZ:

Please allow this forum's experts to peruse the condition of your laptop's hard disk drive.

Assuming that any edition of Microsoft's Windows 7 is the operating system in use:

The following intent is to:

  • Run the full five stages of the Chkdsk.exe application.
  • Generate a diagnostic text file with the results from above and attach that file in your next reply to this thread.
  • Run the portable version of Piriform's Speccy and publish the snapshot results in the form of a URL link.

Procedure:

Please attach CHKDSKResults.txt and the Speccy Snapshot URL in a reply to this thread.

Thank you.

Hello DoeZ:

The 0x7A Bugcheck dumps from your previous topic, plus the one above, show consistency but when coupled with the S.M.A.R.T. attribute values, a close correlation can not yet be made with your laptop's hard disk drive. However this may be preliminary and may change.

As you can see from the CHECKResults.txt file, the requirement for a full five stage run of Chkdsk.exe was not made. Please rerun the first six steps of my procedure such that when step 8 of the Disk Check instructions are performed, both boxes are to be checked: Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

The Speccy results are quite perfect and need not be repeated at this time.

In your next reply, please attach a full five stage CHECKResults.txt file.

Thank you.

The chkdsk log will be saved and can be viewed in the Event Viewer, under Administrative Tools.  It should be under 'Windows Logs, Application."  Do a "find" for "chkdsk" and you should see the log results.  You can then save the log from that screen and attach it to your next post.

Hope this helps.  Have a great day.

Regards,

-Phil

Hello DoeZ:

Yes - the full five stage chkdsk will run appreciably longer than any three stage chkdsk. That is expected and quite normal.

After Windows 7 has restarted, simply repeat steps 5 and 6 of my procedure, in post #2 above, and post your result as before.

Thank you.

Good Morning DoeZ:

Reference my post #2 above.

Since you are simply repeating the original procedure, and you believe chkdsk has finished the chkdsk five stage run, you are now at the beginning of step 5.

After completing step 5, proceed to and complete step 6, as you did before, which produces the CHECKResults.txt output file to your system's Desktop.

Then attach the CHECKResults.txt file to your next reply to this topic.

You do not need to repeat step 7 because the Speccy URL results were perfect.

Thank you.

Hello DoeZ:

The rerun of chkdsk.exe was executed quite perfectly. IMHO the appended results within the CHKDSKResults.txt report are not particularly alarming.

Based on the combined findings above, I have requested the assistance of a very experienced and senior Malwarebytes staff employee for you.

You probably will be contacted soon.

Thank you DoeZ.

https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/163968-need-help-with-hard-drive-issue

Your new topic needs to be created in this forum:

Then send me a Private Message with the link to your new topic and we'll go from there.

I will go ahead and close this topic now and we can continue in  your new one soon.
