2 items in quarantine need help removing please...

I'm sorry folks but I'm one of the dumb ones so please bare with me. I have no clue whatsoever how my laptop got so messed up other than putting the blame on Google Chrome. I totally despise that site and left it behind me yrs ago after learning how horrible it was etc. etc. etc. but in order for me to figure out if a program was working on that and not on my Firefox I had to go ahead and install it. I have Unchecky so I was hoping that it blocked a lot of the extra's it would have automatically installed if you are like most people and just click away...luckily I'm not like most people and have learned a lot over the yrs. and I go slowly when installing anything and I do read everything no matter how long it takes and how bad of a headache I get out of it I'd rather be safe than sorry...that's why I can't understand where this came from. At first it just shut down my laptop on me and when it was rebooting I started it in safemode networking so I could run my scans...The 1st program I ran was SuperAntiSpyware...and I couldn't believe the amount of crap it was pulliing up suddenly...putting it all into quarantine...then I moved to Malwarebytes and as it was running it got to a certain point and it would shut down on me again. I went thru this several times until I decided to switch it up and start with Malwarebytes...now I have these 2 items in quarantine and moved to the other program and it came up clean and I ran my Panda AV and that was ok too...So while these 2 items are in quarantine I really wanted to get that Chrome off my laptop so I went thru all the steps of uninstalling it etc...which now brings me here asking for some help in removing these 2 buggers. I still don't feel safe only because when I open up my browser...I can see something flying like or passing from somewhere to my download tab on my browser tab(?) and when I go to click it every time to see what it was there's nothing there...but I see it passing...lol...call me crazy I know...lol...Hopefully someone will be able to help me with this...I sure would appreciate it.

Thank you

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:

  • Limit your internet access to posting here, some infections just wait to steal typed-in passwords.
  • Please be patient. I know it is frustrating when your PC isn't working properly, but malware removal takes time.
  • Don't run any scripts or tools on your own, unsupervised usage may cause more harm than good.
  • Do not paste the logs in your posts, attachments make my work easier. There is a More reply options button, that gives you Upload Files option below which you can use to attach your reports. Always attach reports from all tools.
  • Always execute my instructions in given order. If for some reason you cannot completely follow one instruction, inform me about that.
  • Stay with me to the end, the absence of symptoms doesn't mean that your machine is fully operational.
  • Note that we may live in totally different time zones, what may cause some delays between answers.
  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.
  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

:excl: I can't foresee everything, so if anything unexpected happens, please stop and inform me!
:excl: There are no silly questions. Never be afraid to ask if in doubt!

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

I hope I did this right...I'm really trying to follow your directions to the T but I do get myself confused at times. Since I ran both of these I can't seem to get back into my Firefox without it crashing on me the minute it opens so I have to open it in safemode as it's the only option it gives me...which is actually making me think I screwed something up

I'm praying I did this right

I'm sorry nothing seemed to be fixing it...I followed your reset link and it still crashed on me. I ended up having to uninstall it completely from my laptop and installing a new version...only it took me forever to get my bookmarks back which gave me a migraine and made me wonder why I even started with all this techno stuff to begin with...and then it hit...to keep in touch with my friends & family and whatever else because after all this is what the world is becoming right

Ok...so I'm back up and running...did I do those last items correctly for you?

Hmmm...Any problems with Firefox now? Well it's such a hard question to answer...I literally had to start this Firefox from the very beginning when I downloaded it. I had no back ups of any kind so finding my bookmarks was giving me a major migraine one night...I ended up adding the cloud extension which brought all my bookmarks over that way...but by doing that I had to go thru and organize it all over again...now the migraine is really pounding and I couldn't stand my glasses on but I couldn't see lol...So I continued the next day while I was waiting to hear from you and while I was in my FB playing one of my games I started getting that stupid pop-up window again...it's something about a script and I just click stop everytime it pops-up...which is usually around 4 maybe 5 times before it actually finishes loading the game and I can play etc. I'm not really noticing anything else really...the date under the time on my taskbar is still messed up and I have no clue what happened there...The items I had in my start menu go away after I either shut down or restart...then I have to go into the notification and start menu and fix it that way but it never stays even after I hit apply then ok...I did look into my Malwarebytes history and those 2 items are still in quarantine. O ther than that I guess everything is ok...lol

Glad I could help. We will delete all used tools and I'll give you some tips to harden your security and learn how to protect yourself :)

The Importance of Software Updating:

In order to stay protected it is very important that you regularly update all of your software. Cybercriminals depend on the apathy of users around software updates to keep their malicious endeavor running.

Operating systems, such as Windows, and applications, such as Adobe Reader or JAVA, are used by tens of millions of computers and devices around the world, making them a huge target for cybercriminals. Downloading updates and installing them can sometimes be tedious, but the advantages you get from the updates are certainly worth it.

Recommended additional software:

icon_arrow.gifTFC - to clean unneeded temporary files.
icon_arrow.gifMalwarebytes' Anti-Malware - to scan your system from time to time in search for malware.
icon_arrow.gifMalwarebytes' Anti-Exploit - to prevent plenty of mostly exploited vulnerabilities.
icon_arrow.gifMcShield - to prevent infections spread by removable media.
icon_arrow.gifUnchecky - to prevent from installing additional foistware, implemented in legitimate installations.
icon_arrow.gifAdblock - to surf the web without annoying ads!

Post-cleanup procedures:

Download DelFix by Xplode and save it to your desktop.

  • Run the tool by right click on the 51a5ce45263de-delfix.png icon and Run as administrator option.
  • Make sure that these ones are checked:
    • Remove disinfection tools
    • Purge system restore
    • Reset system settings
  • Push Run.
  • The program will run for a few seconds and display a notepad report. You do not need to attach it.

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.

I didn't do anything as of yet...still confused a bit because I'm not sure what happened with the results of those scans...but your the pro here...

Before I was going to remove everything I ran my AV and it came up ok and then I ran my Malwarebytes...just before it was almost done the entire screen turned blue and all these things were running thru like...not sure how to explain that....it completely shut down my PC and when it was rebootiing itself I started it in safemode networking...A windows popped up telling me about safe mode and then another window popped up with details of what happened...I have no clue what it all mean so I took some snapshots for you and I'll attach them so you can look at them. I'm still in safemode and that pop up with the details is still up as well.

Waiting to hear from you.

Thanks

DoeZ

O my goodness...that is something I definetly didn't want to hear. But it also confirms that I've been trying to say there's something wrong for a very long time now. Not too long ago I did a complete system reinstall...I think that's what you call it...I had backed up my personal files etc. and basically wiped my laptop clean...but I'm wondering if I put the wrong router info in? Would that make a difference?
