Hello,

I have used MBAM for a while now, and love it.  I recently had to reinstall things on my computer, and noticed MBAM would open a lot on its own.  I checked automated scheduling, and it's set to check for updates every hour.  I can't change this at all.

What the censored, developers?  Are you trying to annoy free users so much you force them into buying premium?  I do not want MBAM opening on its own.  I do not want it checking for updates every single hour.  This is EXTREMELY stupid of you.  I love MBAM, and don't want to uninstall it, but I'm going to have to if it's gonna open every single hour all day long.

It only checks for updates each hour, which is a very quick process.  It does not run scans hourly.  If you have had it in the past before reinstalling software, you should have seen that behavior in the past as well.  It has not changed.

Before the reinstall, it did not do this.  It didn't open up on its own every single hour.  If it checked for updates without opening up, I'd be fine with it.  If I don't click a program to open it, it should not open on its on unless it's something telling me it detects maleware.  I could be in the middle of watching a show or movie in full screen, and it pops up, cancelling the full screen.

Making this premium only is a very, very stupid move.  I want to disable it checking every single hour for an update, because that is so stupid!  Seriously, who in their right mind would want a program to open up every hour and scan for updates?  Makes zero sense.

Scheduled scans and updates is not available in the free version.... Do you have the Free version or Premium Paid for version? Also the updates and scans are done in the background, if yours are opening the GUI then something is not right...

Let's try this first....

Thank You,

Hello and :welcome: , lords:

Mine is doing the exact same thing.

I am running windows 10 technical preview so I don't know if that is the reason.

It keeps opening and taking focus from my fullscreen programs and making them lag whilst running updates etc.

This is Ararielfett's topic under a different Windows OS version.

So, your problem may or may not be the same.

Moreover, Windows 10 is still only in Technical Preview and likely is not yet fully supported by Malwarebytes.

So, let's try this first....

You want it every hour. I want it every 5 minutes. That's why I upgraded. You need new definitions asap.

>>Regarding the frequency of update checks: new databases, on average, are issued 10 or 12 times per day.  So, there is no need to check for updates every 5 minutes (288 times a day). ;)   Hourly update checks are more than sufficient.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,
