My son's laptop is showing popups from a web site offering a tool called "Easy Driver Pro". I installed and ran the free version of "MalwareBytes Anti-Malware" and it detected several unwanted programs that were successfully removed (or quarantined), but I am still getting this popup (and other ones). I have read "Malware Removal Guides and Self Help Guides" section but I do not find information about Easy Driver Pro. Why are popups still appearing? Why didn´t MalwareBytes Anti-Malware solve my issue? What does MalwareBytes Anti-Malware exactly do?

I will greatly appreciate your feedback so I can successfully solve my situation.

Respectfully,

Jorge Maldonado

Hello and :welcome: :

It's impossible to say for sure without seeing the MBAM logs.
However, no one single security application, not even MBAM, can possibly protect against 100% of the ever-changing malware variants.
This is better explained here: The complexity of finding, preventing, and cleanup from malware

And there is more information about PUPs here: What are the 'PUP' detections, are they threats, and should they be deleted?

Having said that, free, expert cleanup help is available.
That sort of work cannot be performed in this particular area of the forum.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the suggested, preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue.

Thanks,

Hi:

The Trial version provides 14 days of full features, including real-time protection, automated update checks and scans, and other features.

Like the PREMIUM, Paid version, the real-time protection of the Trial version helps to PREVENT infections from getting onto the computer.

(However, after 14 days, the Trial program reverts to the Free version if the user does not activate it with a paid license.)

The Free version is only an on-demand, manual scanner that can only REMOVE infections that have already made it past the anti-virus onto the system.

However, the scanning engines and malware databases are the same between Free, Trial and Premium.

The difference is between PREVENTION vs. REMOVAL AFTER THE FACT.

I suggest that you might want to please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

A malware analyst will assist you with getting cleaned up.

Thanks,
