Dota2 causes internet explorer to open up uncontollably also while browsing it reverts back to my homepage

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I'm hoping that you will be able to assist me with the below problem that I'm experiencing??

I have been playing Dota 2 for the last 8 months problem and issue free bar the odd lag here and there. Since the 16th December I have started to experience issues because my internet explorer would just open up randomly without me having to click on the internet explorer icon. It goes crazy and even more uncontrollably whenever I run Dota so much so that the internet explorer refreshes faster than I can close it. Even when I browse normal sites it opens on the tab that I am browsing and it has taken me 30mins just to type this as each time I type it opens google on the tab that I'm using which is quite frustrating.

I'm running Windows 8.1 and update that on a regular basis. I also have Nortons Internet Security Premium installed on my system along with Superantispyware Version 6.0.1168 along with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Trial Version. The later 2 were downloaded recently once I was on the verge of smashing my laptop due to this issue that I'm having.

Please can you help me to keep my sanity by helping me to fix this issue?

Hello sgtkillalot and :welcome:

At least some liklihood exists that the computer is probably infected and malware removal actions are not permitted in this sub-forum.

I recommend following the advice from the topic: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and have one of the Malware Removal Experts assist you with your issue.

If, as recommended, you do open a topic in Malware Removal Help, please make reference to this thread.

If you would like to get off to a very fast start, the Malware Removal Experts would appreciate it if you would also Copy and Paste (not attach) both the FRST.txt and the Addition.txt output diagnostic reports from only Log Set 1 into your new topic.

Thank you. :)

Hi,  Temporarily turn OFF the Norton and then get and run FRST.  Norton is known to block FRST  ( for no good reason).  FRST tool is a known and widely used and known report tool.   After you have done that, you can turn back on Norton a-v.

Good luck.
