Im new to this sort of thing so bear with me. during the harsh cold of last week my computer has been acting really funny. it runs very slow and when trying to run certain programs (like malwarebytes) it freezes completely. ive looked online for any solution i could before i came here (ran Malwarebytes in safe mode with netowrking. cleaned and reseated RAM. tried a new Power Supply in case the current one just isnt giving enough power. etc)

ive run every scan i could on safe mode. flash scan yielded nothing (of course). when running normal and full scan it would freeze (about 20 to 30 minutes in on normal. 1 hour and 20 minutes on full). when this happens its pretty much locked cause the timer doesnt even tick and then i have to manually shut it down and try again. its possible certain files are corrupt or something is amiss, i dont know. but it never ran like this till now. like its running fine when im doing skype or chrome. but anything big on memory or something that takes a bit going just stalls out. please help me.

Hi:

Your logs show that you are running an ancient, unsupported version of MBAM (released in December 2012):

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware version 1.70.0.1100 (HKLM-x32\...\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware_is1) (Version: 1.70.0.1100 - Malwarebytes Corporation)

So, forget about running mbam-check for now. ;)

>>Please try a clean upgrade to the current version (2.0.4.1028) by carefully following the steps in this pinned topic: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

Please let us know if that resolves your issue.

If it does not, then we'll need a fresh set of Diagnostic Logs (all 3, if possible). You'll need to place a check-mark in the "Addition.txt" option, if you need to run FRST again.

Thanks,

Hi:

There are a few ways to look up the license ID and Key:

  • The confirmation email from the seller -- in this case, Tiger Direct -- as you mentioned.
  • The registry lookup, as explained here, this pinned topic: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
  • Running this tool >>> GetMalwarebytesRegistration <<, developed by our forum Admin. It is an automated way of doing the lookup.  This tool will only work if you have or had version 1.x PRO installed on your computer.  It will save a text file copy of your license ID and Key on your desktop. It is a good idea to then copy this file with the license info from your desktop to a more appropriate location, such as your Documents folder.

If neither #2 nor #3 works, then it would seem that either you never had a paid, activated license for MBAM Pro version 1 on this same computer, or that you may have reinstalled the Windows operating system (which would have deleted the registry items).

If that's the case, and you no longer have the license ID and Key sent by Tiger Direct, then you will need to contact them for the information.
(You can *try* to contact Malwarebytes Consumer Support, and they *may* be able to help, but it's not likely, especially since you did not purchase the license from the Malwarebytes store.)

Having said that, you can still perform a clean upgrade to version 2.0.4.1028. :)
There is a 14-day Trial version enabled by default during installation.

It will provide the full, premium features for 14 days, while you sort out the licensing issue.

I hope this helps,

If you're still having issues please post back 3 new fresh logs and we'll help you out.

Run FRST again and make sure you place a check mark in the ADDITIONS.TXT check box and post back both new logs.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.

You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please copy and paste it to your reply as well.
