MoveFile failed; code 5

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am running the free version of Malwarebytes and when I try to update the program I receive this error (pasted below). I did see a similar post to this from last January but I am not sure if this is what I should do. I did follow the instructions from the pinned section - I'm infected- What do I do now? so, I have the first two logs from the Farbar recovery scan tool that I have shared. I also backed up important files and enabled the system to show hidden files. This is all I have done so far and would really appreciate further help.

Thank you.

Hello and :welcome: :

Your logs show that the system is infected, at least with PUPs and other undesirable items.

We are not permitted to review scan logs or work on possible malware-related issues here in this section of the forum.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the suggested, preliminary steps to expedite the process.

A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue.

Your helper can also assist with getting MBAM updated and running.

>>As you have already run FRST, you just need to start a new, separate topic in the malware removal section. Please include the same logs with that new post. Then, please wait for expert assistance.

Thanks,
