Hello and :welcome: :

First: just to be sure -- this is a 3-PC, consumer, subscription license, not a 1-PC lifetime license, correct?

In any event, in nearly all cases, this is due to inadvertent alphanumeric character substitutions when manually entering the license ID and Key (e.g. "1" and "I", "0" and "O", "5" and "S", etc.)
If you are copying and pasting directly from the confirmation email, be sure not to add any extra spaces before or after the character strings.
The ID should be XXXXX-XXXXX
The Key should be XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

See here: It says 'Invalid license information' when I try to activate the software.
See here: How do I activate Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?
If that fails, see here: How do I obtain my license key or confirmation email?

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

When you open the main dashboard, does the ribbon at the very top say "Premium" or "Trial" or "Free" (see screen cap)?

If it says "Premium" and rebooting the computer doesn't resolve the issue with real-time protection, OR if it does not say "Premium", then please proceed with these steps:

  • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
  • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
  • NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

right okay, think I should make clear now though incase it has anything to do with it, it is fine on my laptop, its on the other pc that this is happening and its not really a big problem. running scan on that pc at the moment and it is a mess, so I think its best that I get back to this tomorrow with as much of the info requested as I can fathom. appreciate the time and help.

OK, I think we are discussing your mom's desktop PC, which you are having trouble activating the license, right?
(If your laptop is properly activated, then we need not discuss it at this moment -- doing so could cause confusion.)

Let's do one computer at a time. :)

You didn't answer the question about whether the program is or is not activated. :(

And I presume you did not try the suggested first step to troubleshoot (clean reinstall)?

However, you wrote:

If I assume correctly that you mean that the scan is detecting many items, then that is certainly one common reason for inability to activate the real-time protection modules.  Infection can sometimes interfere with proper installation and running of MBAM.

If that is the case, then I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the suggested, preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue.

Your helper will assist with scanning, cleaning and repairing the computer, AND with getting MBAM up and running.

Thanks,

OK, super!
Thanks for the update.

I'm glad you got it sorted out.

Having said that, you might want to follow-up, as suggested here:
