Removing PUP.Optional.Spigot.A - Computer unique?

MBAM identified "PUP.Optional.Spigot.A" on my laptop today.  I quarantined the item, but suspect it will appear again, given the experience of others.  From searching the forums, it looks like removing it requires a series of steps unique to each computer - similar removal programs used, but unique scripts, sequences, and so forth.  What should I do next (aside from never, ever clicking on X to close a fake request to update Flash)?

Looks like I found an answer here.  Slightly different procedure than some others - didn't use zoek or FRST.  I use Windows 8.1 Pokki menu (came on my laptop) and had to reinstall, which was a pain, but no signs of Spigot A so far...
