Mbam & Bitdefender Total Security 2015 Conflict

Recommended Posts

Hi:

First, please try setting mutual exclusions between BD and MBAM -- instructions are below.

I would also make sure you have completely and cleanly removed all traces and remnants of other, prior anti-virus and security applications, using the software vendor's removal tools, when available. (Leftover drivers and other files can create conflicts and instability.)

If that doesn't resolve the issue, then please do the following:
Please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt).
NOTE: If you have previously run FRST on this same system, please place a check-mark in the Addition.txt option before running it.

ALSO: Please describe in more detail the "conflict" you experience and how you determined it was caused by MBAM.

Thank you,
-----------------------

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software for your version of Windows:

For 32 bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 & 8:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware \mbamscheduler.exe

Note: If you are using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall, you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE and MBAMSERVICE.EXE from it as well.

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

I am running Bitdefender 2015 Total Security, MBAM Premium, and MAE on two computers.  In addition to what Daledoc has suggested, Bitdefender recommends, in their Forums, removing MBAM and MAE completely (MBAM-Clean utility).  Install your Bitdefender, reboot, then turn off active virus scanning and the Firewall.  Install MBAM.  Configure exceptions in BD  and MBAM as Daledoc has suggested.  Reboot, again disable BD virus scanning and firewall if installing MAE and then configure those exceptions in MBAM and BD.

I have not had any conflicts.  They work together well.  I have also done likewise with the computers of my friends and they have not reported any issues.  Do make sure that you have removed all traces of any other anti-virus and anti-malware programs before doing a clean install of Bitdefender.

Hope this helps.  Have a great day.

Regards,

-Phil
