Unable to permanently remove Win32.Delf.uv and Hupigon13 - Help!

Recommended Posts

Last night after booting up the PC i started getting fake security alerts popping up when i was browsing the web - its a shared computer so i'm unable to work out for sure what has caused it, i decided to investigate and noticed quite a few suspicious looking processes running in the task manager - i googled anything i was unsure of and managed to identify and locate several exe's which were listed as threats - i should have written them down at the time but didnt - ones that stick in my mind are ld08.exe and pp10.exe - i also had infected SYSDLL.exe's too. I stopped these processes immediately then took the necessary steps to try and remove them for good.

The PC is running XP and i use AVG Free Edition and AdAware as security on it. Having stopped as many processes as i could i then ran Adaware and continued to remove other files identified. I also deleted all temporary internet files, cookies, etc too. I also ran AVG and identified another couple of threats which were removed too. On top of all this i was manually removing some files which i thought looked suspicious - i went into sys32 folder and arranged icons by date modified and removed one or two suspicious files - digiwet.dll being one. At this time i also noticed i could not launch regedit which did not bode well.

From there i hopped online and downloaded Prevx 3.0 (detection mode only) which identified another couple of threats. I also started browsing the Malwarebytes forums and downloaded Spybot and Malwarebytes Anti Malware - both of these were run and cleaned up a lot of files and reg keys - inc Win32.Delf.uv and Hupigon13. I then decided to take the plunge and try a reboot.

On reboot everything seems ok but when i run Spybot or Malwarebytes again i can see that Win32.Delf.uv and Hupigon13 have reappeared and changed the reg keys again. Basically i'm hoping that someone can help me identify whats constantly changing the keys and make sure i have nothing else to worry about still running in the background.

Spybot comes back with 4 trojan entries for hupigon13 and 11 entries for win32.delf.uv. Malwarebytes throws up all changes - 93 of them -90 security hijacks on reg keys and 3 security centre changes.

I can see something keeps creating Debugger keys in the registry "Image File Execution Options" but i dont know what. I also get 3 persistent changes to Security Center in the registry (AntiVirusDisableNotify, FirewallDisableNotify, UpdatesDisableNotify).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially as my parents need to finalise some holiday details online and book some excursions and i'm not sure if its wise for them to be submitting personal details at the moment with the security of the PC compromised.

Hi,

First of all, please update MalwareBytes, because the databaseversion is outdated.

  • Start MalwareBytes and click the Update tab. There click "Check for updates"
  • In case you can't update the database via the update option, please download and install the database from here. Only do this when the update option doesn't work.
  • Once the updates are downloaded, perform a full scan again.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log, then we'll proceed from there with new steps.

Extra Note:

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.
