Hey everyone,

Lately I've been looking to getting a decent firewall;

and haven't had luck finding a rock-solid one.

I currently use Filseclab Personal Firewall, it's free

and actually closes all ports on your computer...

but it isn't the best one, I must admit.

Also I have tried ZoneAlarm & ZoneAlarm Pro

and found it to be one of the worst firewalls I've

ever tried.

I'm looking to get a software firewall, not hardware as well.

And also, I don't care about any firewalls that will

slow down my computer & network even if they

do have perfect protection.

Any recommendations on firewalls are appreciated!

Well, after some testing and usage of Comodo Firewall...

I found that it was bloat-ware, didn't remember programs I accepted, etc.

I switched to Sygate Pro;

Light-Weight, Stealthy Protection, and plenty of options.

Support was discontinued however because they were bought out by Symantec.

I will continue to look for new firewalls, suggestions are still appreciated.

Ahh...but once Comodo v3 comes out...you should try again (beta is coming out June 7)

Comodo says that it will only use around 10 MB of system resources and include full HIPS, fix security vulnerabilities in the program itself that have been reported, and adds more functionality...Yes, you could call it bloatware, but its very light and offers powerful protection so...

It might of just been me, but it slowed my computer AND network down - but I will try v3 as soon as it comes out!

Thanks.

well...on my computer, it does slow it down a little...

But we can expect speed improvements because Kevin (of BOClean) is working with Comodo on all their security products (I think)...Comodo Antiviruspyware is already supposedly drastically cutting down on how much it affects system performance so CFP should be as well...
