MBAM scan freezes my laptop every full threat scan

Recommended Posts

Good Day ^_^ , i am really desperate now that i had force shutdown my laptop 5 times because of the freeze/lag my laptop gets when scanning not only MBAM but also my antivirus ( Avast ). Mostly they lag in these files: msvcrt.dll( only MBAM causes this), mvcp60.dll(both), mvcp100.dll(both), there are many more programs that they lag when scanning.

First I tried hiding msvcrt.dll and it worked, then it lagged(as in i hardly can move my mouse cursor) again in mvcp60.dll so i deleted it, but in the next scan it lagged in mvcp100.dll, deleted it too, then there was this other program, that i cant remember, it lagged there too.... Can anyone help me with this problem, and pls. be patient with me cuz i am not expert in this.

Hello and :welcome: :

I'm not sure what you mean by a "Full Threat Scan"?
The scan types are: "Hyper", "Threat" and "Custom". :)

(Threat scan is all that's needed or recommended under most conditions.)
Are you referring to a complete, custom scan of your entire system (all drives, folders, and files)?

You might wish to set mutual exclusions between MBAM and Avast (instructions are below).

If that doesn't resolve your issue:

  • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
  • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
  • NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
---------------

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software for your version of Windows:

For 32 bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

  • For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 & 8:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware \mbamscheduler.exe
Note: If you are using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall, you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE and MBAMSERVICE.EXE from it as well.

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:
    data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

Hi:

It appears that you have an identical post in the malware removal section here: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/159606-mbam-scan-freezes-my-laptop-every-full-threat-scan/

If you think you might be infected, then please wait for an expert helper to reply in that other topic and please stay with the helper there until you are given the "all-clear". :)

Please do not create additional posts in different areas of the forum for the same issue.

Doing so creates confusion and consumes precious forum resources.

Thanks for your understanding,

Hi,

Yes, there is a Trial version of MBAM.

However, it appears that Maniac has already replied to your other topic and awaits your response here: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/159606-mbam-scan-freezes-my-laptop-every-full-threat-scan/?findpost=896589

To minimize confusion, please stay with him there until he gives you the "all clear".

He can assist you with (re)installing MBAM.

If other, non-malware issues with MBAM remain after the cleanup, he may refer you back here for further help configuring and running the program, as needed.

As for Diagnostic Logs, they would be created by you by running the requested scanning tools on your system, as explained earlier.

However, there is no need for that here in this topic at this time, as you are being helped in another area of the forum.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
