Trojan Detected By NIS

Recommended Posts

When I ran a Norton scan on my daughters pc, it said it removed Trojan.Lapka. The log said the infected file was C/programfiles(x86)malwarebytes anti-maleware and a number that ended with .tmp(i don't know if i should post the file number) I did use snipping tool to take a copy. I haven't posted it because I can't get to her pc just yet. It said it was removed, but are we safe?  Any advice would help.

There's no way to tell exactly what's going on without more information (especially scan logs).
It could be a False Positive (FP) detection by Norton on an MBAM file -- similar FP detections on MBAM files by Norton have been reported several times before.
For example: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/151400-norton-antivirus-detected-trojankillav-in-mwb-directory/
If you think this could be a FP by Norton, you would need to report it to them.

OTOH, if you think you might be infected, or if you would like an expert second-opinion to check, then I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will assist you with looking into the issue.
