Neither Malwarebytes Premium nor Avg has resolved this problem for me. I killed the 3 running processes tied to it in task manager and found the dllhost.exe file and deleted it in SysWOW64. Rebooted in safe mode and ran scans again. Problem still remained. I have run multiple other scans now - nothing is showing up even after running Cameleon. Nothing resolved yet. I CAN'T download ANY removal tool (Farbar, etc), when I try I get a P-up that reads: "Security Alert - Your current security settings do not allow the file to be downloaded". (Bull)

Please help!! I have been at this for over 24hrs and I'm still warring with this malious beast.

My name's Naathim and I'm a GeekU Minion! Now that we are mates and will be working together to clean your machine out of any junkware, feel free to call me Naat :)

Before we start please note the following:

  • Analysis and research take some time, also sometimes real life gets in the way, please be patient.
  • Limit your internet access to posting here, some infections just wait to steal typed-in passwords.
  • Don't run any scripts or tools on your own, unsupervised usage may cause more harm than good.
  • Paste the logs in your posts, attachments make my work harder and more complicated.
  • Stay with me to the end, the absence of symtoms doesn't mean that your machine is fully operational.
  • Note that we may live in totally different time zones, what may cause some delays between answers.

I can't foresee everything, so if anything unexpected happens, please stop and inform me!

There are no silly questions. Never be afraid to ask if in doubt!

Let's start and enjoy the fight! :)

warning.gif Rules and policies

We won't support any piracy.

That being told, if any evidence of illegal OS, software, cracks/keygens or any other will be revealed, any further assistance will be suspended. If you are aware that there is this kind of stuff on your machine, remove it before proceeding!

The same applies to any use of P2P software: uTorrent, BitTorrent, Vuze, Kazaa, Ares... We don't provide any help for P2P, except for their removal. All P2P software has to be uninstalled or at least fully disabled before proceeding!

Failure to follow these guidelines will result with closing your topic and withdrawning any assistance.

Are you able to boot into Safe mode?

  • Please reboot your computer and start tapping F8 repeatedly.
  • You should see a couple of options there, but the main three will be:
    • Safe Mode
    • Safe Mode with networking
    • Safe Mode with command prompt
  • Using your arrow keys enter the Safe Mode with networking option.

Is it operational? If so try downloading FRST there and post the reports.

Can get to Safe Mode with Networking, but it is compromised. The dllhost.exe32* (and several more dllhost.exe) show up in task manager. My entire system appears infected. I am not able to download any program like Farbar or other ones mentioned on forum. I consistently get message:   "Security Alert - Your current security settings do not allow the file to be downloaded". Had to run Malwarebytes Pro 1.75 from Disc to scan. Did a full scan, this is the results:

Hi :)

OK, I know now where the culprit is.

I killed the 3 running processes tied to it in task manager and found the dllhost.exe file and deleted it in SysWOW64

This was very unwise. dllhost is a legitimate and mandatory file. It is just used in this case for illegitimate purposes.

So please refrain from any self-fixing from now on, OK?

Run RogueKiller again and click Scan

When the scan completes > click on the Registry tab

Put a check next to all of these and uncheck the rest: (if found)

Now click Delete on the right hand column under Options

If you have difficulties to remove that threat, try this:

1- Do a scan with RogueKiller. Do not close the window.

2- Kill all dllhost.exe processes (for example with Process Explorer, kill tree

3- Do the removal with RogueKiller

4- Reboot immediately

MrCharlie

I do thank you profusely for stepping in with further instructions about my husband's computer, but I think it might be too late at this point.

Because of personal reasons I can't really go into, time was of the essence for a quicker response in the forum (although I know that's not always possible.)

After the computer initial Rogue Scan scan and posting the report, I waited for further instruction. Some hours after waiting, the computer did a reboot by itself and landed on black screen for quite some time, then it went to a system repair/restore screen. I tried starting the computer again in safe mode, but Windows would no longer start and repairing windows feature would not work either. I tried several tries and a message came up that windows could not repair the system automatically. A member of my household (Who's computer this is) started panicking, said they couldn't wait any longer for help/support from your forum and decided to do a complete wipe of their computer (back to factory specs.) That's not what I recommended, nor wanted them to do, but it wasn't my computer and my decision at this point.

So the last thing that happened from technical instructions given here was the Rogue Scan I was initially told to do by Naat. Thereafter, the "back to factory spec restore" was applied. Copy's of document files where made on CD before the scrape, However I suspect they too might be infected some way and I don't want to put them to be put back on. So this kind of changes things alot.

Is there any further help or instruction you can give me at this point, I will sure take it and pass it on. Thanks in advance MrCharlie. If not, feel free to close the thread.
