  • HTTP Scanning (Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition)

    Protects you from scams such as credit card phishing attempts, Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition scans all the links you access from your browser and blocks them when they prove to be unsafe.

My question is, does it block only bad websites in internet browser, or does it monitor all IP traffic like MBAM Premium?

What about Avast?

Hi:

Welcome to Malwarebytes forum. :)

Alas, I don't use either of those AVs.

Until some forum members come along who use BD or Avast, I suppose that you might be able to obtain a faster or more detailed response to your questions from the respective support pages or communities for those particular products, or from a General computer security forum, such as Wilders or Bleepingcomputer.com?

<just a thought>

Cheers,

The post I think @CWB mentions is this sticky: List of well known antivirus products

And here are a few external links:

http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/72070-what-s-best-anti-virus.html

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/25/anti-virus-and-anti-malware-software/

Having said that, I think the OP was actually asking about specific features/functionality of specific AVs, not opinions about the "best AV"? :unsure:

(If I correctly understood the post.)

@XiRW:

In fact, it has been a long-standing consensus/practice here at the Malwarebytes forum to limit discussion of "best AV".

Historically, there have been many reasons for this.

First, it's a question that is asked here and elsewhere 6.0221413e+23 times.

Second, there is no optimal AV that suits all systems and all users -- if there were, there would be only one product on the market.

Third, 10 "experts" will offer at least 11 opinions, and these discussions inevitably devolve into passionate, heated arguments.

Fourth, as Malwarebytes maintains relationships with all of the major AV vendors, it would be unseemly, if not inappropriate, for staff (or forum volunteers) to advocate for or critique against specific products.  That discussion is better reserved for "General" computer fora not owned and run by Malwarebytes corporation.

And THAT is why our forum Admin, AdvancedSetup, posted this sticky topic.

And that is why we follow the requested practice of referring users to that pinned topic.

Having said all of that, again, my reading of the OP's original question is that he asked about SPECIFIC features of 2 SPECIFIC AV products?

As we are neither the BD forum nor the Avast forum, we aren't really well-positioned to specifically support those particular products, per se, re: features and functions.

Of course, that does not in any way preclude a forum member from offering advice or answering the questions asked. :)

That is all. :)
