Unfortunately, your computer is infected with a rootkit. As such, I must issue the following warning. Please let me know how you wish to proceed.

goGMWSt.gifBACKDOOR WARNING

------------------------------

One or more of the identified infections is known to use a backdoor, that allows attackers to remotely control your computer, download/execute files and steal critical system, financial and personal information.

Please disconnect your computer from the internet immediately. If your computer was used for online banking, has credit card information or other sensitive data, using a non-infected computer/device you should immediately change all account information (including those used for banking, email, eBay, paypal, online forums, etc). Consider these accounts already compromised.

Banking and credit card institutions should be notified of the possible security breach immediately. Please read the following for more information: How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?

Whilst the identified infection(s) can be removed, there is no way to guarantee that your computer will be trustworthy again. This is due to the nature of the infection, which allows the attacker complete control over the computer. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of malware, the best course of action is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the Operating System. Please read the following articles for more information.

Please let me know how you wish to proceed, and if you have any questions.

Hello Adam.

My name is Ed.

Thanks again for your help.

Attached are the two files you requested.

Sorry about the time to respond. The Combofix required me to shut down some other services - MSE and Microsoft Antimalware

I restored both these services and my AVG after performing Combo Fix.

Hello Ed,

Please consider the following warnings, and proceed with the instructions below.

goGMWSt.gifMultiple Anti-Virus Software Warning

------------------------------

It is inadvisable to have more than one Anti-Virus installed on your computer at the same time. Doing so may:

  • Cause conflicts, negatively impacting the effectiveness of each Anti-Virus installed.
  • Trigger false-positives.
  • Trigger false-negatives, where neither programme detects malware.
  • Cause system instability/performance issues. Your system may lock up or slow down due to both software attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Please remove all but one Anti-Virus from your computer.
  • Press the Windows Key pdKOQKY.png + r on your keyboard at the same time.
  • Type appwiz.cpl and click OK.
  • Search for and uninstall all but one of the programmes listed below by right-clicking and clicking Uninstall.
    • Microsoft Security Essentials
    • AVG Internet Security 2014
  • Follow the prompts, and reboot your computer once uninstalled.

goGMWSt.gifSpybot S&D No Longer Recommended

------------------------------

MVPS.org is no longer recommending Spybot S&D due to poor testing results (scroll down and read under Freeware Antispyware Products).

I would strongly advise uninstalling Spybot S&D. The presence of this programme can make the cleaning of your computer more difficult. You can uninstall the programme by:

  • Press the Windows Key pdKOQKY.png + r on your keyboard at the same time. Type appwiz.cpl and click OK.
  • Search for Spybot, right-click the entry and click Uninstall.
Please inform me of your decision.

STEP 1
BY4dvz9.png AdwCleaner

  • Please download AdwCleaner and save the file to your Desktop.
  • Right-Click AdwCleaner.exe and select AVOiBNU.jpg Run as administrator to run the programme.
  • Follow the prompts.
  • Click Scan
  • Upon completion, click Report. A log (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open. Briefly check the log for anything you know to be legitimate.
  • Ensure anything you know to be legitimate does not have a checkmark, and click Clean
  • Follow the prompts and allow your computer to reboot
  • After rebooting, a log (AdwCleaner[s0].txt) will open. Copy the contents of the log and paste in your next reply.

-- File and registry key backups are made for anything removed using this tool. Should a legitimate entry be removed (otherwise known as a 'false-positive'), simple steps can be taken to restore the entry. Please do not overly concern yourself with the contents of AdwCleaner[R0].txt.

STEP 2
E3feWj5.png Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)

  • Please download Junkware Removal Tool and save the file to your Desktop.
  • Note: If you unchecked any items in AdwCleaner, please backup the associated folders/files before running JRT.
  • Temporarily disable your anti-virus software. For instructions, please refer to the following link.
  • Right-Click JRT.exe and select AVOiBNU.jpg Run as administrator to run the programme.
  • Follow the prompts and allow the scan to run uninterrupted.
  • Upon completion, a log (JRT.txt) will open on your desktop.
  • Re-enable your anti-virus software.
  • Copy the contents of JRT.txt and paste in your next reply.

STEP 3
xlK5Hdb.png Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) Scan

  • Right-Click FRST64.exe and select AVOiBNU.jpg Run as administrator to run the programme.
  • Click Yes to the disclaimer.
  • Ensure the Addition.txt box is checked.
  • Click the Scan button and let the programme run.
  • Upon completion, click OK, then OK on the Addition.txt pop up screen.
  • Two logs (FRST.txt & Addition.txt) will now be open on your Desktop. Copy the contents of both logs and paste in your next reply.

======================================================

STEP 4
pfNZP4A.png Logs
In your next reply please include the following logs. Please be sure to copy and paste the requested logs, as well as provide information on any questions I may have asked.

  • Did you uninstall one Anti-Virus?
  • Did you uninstall Spybot?
  • AdwCleaner[s0].txt

Please consider the following warning.

goGMWSt.gifRegistry Cleaner Warning

------------------------------

I see you have registry cleaner software (AVG PC TuneUp & PC Matic) installed on your computer. Registry cleaners and optimization tools that claim to speed up your computer should be avoided, and are potentially dangerous. By running a registry cleaner you are risk rendering your machine unbootableThere is no statistical evidence to back claims that cleaning the registry will improve performance. Advertisements to do so are borderline scams intended to goad users into using an unnecessary and potential dangerous product.

  • Some registry cleaners employ aggressive cleaning routines that may cause substantial damage to your system, and could render your machine unbootable.
  • Not all registry cleaners backup the registry. When modifying the registry, one should always create a backup.
  • The usefulness of cleaning one's registry is disputable; there is no statistical evidence to support the claim that cleaning the registry will improve system performance.
Please refer to the following article on why you should not use registry cleaner software. I suggest reading why Microsoft does not support the use of registry cleaners as well.

Please provide an update on your computer after completing the steps below. Are there any outstanding issues?
