database installed but not recognized

i installed the manual updates
by unzipping mbam-rules-2014.09.29.zip
and installing one of the 2 files inside it:
mbam2.rules.exe dated 09/29/2014 of size 10,095.896 bytes

but

Malwarebytes Antimalware(Trial) 2.02.1012
says
UNABLE TO ACCESS UPDATE SERVER
then says
Database Verion V2014.03.04.09
and I still get the nasty popups insisting that I update the database.

 

Bootom  line:

unable to use the db update.

N.B

I get my updates off a public computer, download to a flashdrive

and install it on my off-internet home computer.

1. Please uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest version. MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
