New version update desktop icon problem

Recommended Posts

 Hey y'all,

I just got an updated version to install from the auto update and on the reboot I now have a MWB desktop icon, I'll never use it and I want it gone.

Problem is it says I don't have permission top remove it delete it or put it in a folder? I've had my current system running for over a year installed it myself as administrator and have never seen this problem, I am always able to remove unwanted desktop icons after program installations, and I have hundreds of programs installed.

Now the easy thing to do is just try to ignore it, but since it's being so stubborn about letting me handle my own desktop......now it annoys me so it's gotta go.

any advice on this one would be appreciated.

I've had MWB running resident for 5 years or better, registered it when it wasn't even required to do so, NEVER seen this before.

thanks for any help

Hi.

I didn't see a reply from the original poster (yet), but I just wanted you to know that I had the same issue (an icon installed at C:\Users\Public\Desktop\ that I couldn't delete), and that unchecking the option for "Enable Self-Protection Module" worked just fine for me.  Thanks.

Carry on then...
