I have just reinstalled my machine from Microsoft media. I've patched Windows 8.1 up to date, installed MalwareBytes and the latest version of Avast Antivirus Pro.

I go to the Windows Store and download Invoice 360 which appears to be version 2.5.0.70 and Malwarebytes reports that it is infected with Backdoor.Agent.INVgen and quarantines the file.

I've tried the reinstall from scratch twice.

Any ideas please?

Regards,

Chris

Hello and :welcome: :

We can't work on malware diagnostics and removal in this sub-section of the forum.

So, if you think you might be infected, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will guide you through the cleanup process.

OTOH, if you think the detection might be a False Positive, please start here: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/3228-please-read-before-reporting-a-false-positive/

Then please post the requested information in the FP section here: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/forum/42-file-detections/

Thanks,
