Unable to run Malwarebytes AM or firefox

My wife told me she had a virus on her computer and asked me to look it over. Sure enough she had antivirus 2009 on her machine. I use AVG, symantic AV sw, I had Malwares AM installed and spybot S&D. So I ran the AVG anit-v and it seemed to have picked up the virus and remove it. I then wanted to be sure and ran Malwarebtys AM and nothing happened. the proc was in the proc table but no gui. So I uninstalled and reinstall the latest version and same issue. I then found the thread on looking for the TDSSserv.sys in the non-plug and play drivers in the hidden devices. This was not present.

Finally I DL and ran hijackthis and would like to see if you all can help me get this system under control again.

note: if for some reason you are unable to run some/any of the tools in the first link, then skip that step and move on to the next one. If you can't even run HijackThis, then just post here: Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs describing your issues and an expert will reply with further instructions.
