Can't get Malwarebytes to Scan

Hi,

 

I am pretty sure I have some kind of virus on this computer becasue I can't get Malwarebytes to run.  Malwarebytes will open but when you try and run either the scan or update it errors out "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has stopped working".

 

I have done the following:

1. Used Chameleon to run Malwarebytes
2. Run rkill programs to allow Malwarebytes to run
3. Run Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

I have attached the Addition.txt, FRST.txt, and Rkill.txt files as reqursted.

 

Any help will be appreciated.

We won't support any piracy.
That being told, if any evidence of illegal OS, software, cracks/keygens or any other will be revealed, any further assistance will be suspended. If you are aware that there is this kind of stuff on your machine, remove it before proceeding!
The same applies to any use of P2P software: uTorrent, BitTorrent, Vuze, Kazaa, Ares... We don't provide any help for P2P, except for their removal. All P2P software has to be uninstalled or at least fully disabled before proceeding!

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
 

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

 
Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:
 
Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

• Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
  (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
• Press the Fix button just once and wait.
• If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
• When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Thank you for your help.  I have run the fixlist.txt using FST64.exe as the administrator.  The fixlog.txt is attached below.  Please note that my DCHP controls for my internect connection was turned off durning the fix.

Let's reinstall MalwareBytes now:
 
 
 
Uninstall outdated Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
 
Please download MBAM-clean and save it to your desktop.

• Right-click on mbam-clean.exe icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
• It will ask you to reboot the machine - please do so.

After that follow my next instructions to download & install the newset MBAM version.
 
 
 
Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
 
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.

• Install the progam and select update.
• Once updated, click the Settings tab, in the left panel choose Detctions & protection and tick Scan for rootkits.
• Click the Scan tab, choose Threat Scan is checked and click Scan Now.
• If threats are detected, click the Apply Actions button. You will now be prompted to reboot. Click Yes.
• Upon completion of the scan (or after the reboot), click the History tab.
• Click Application Logs and double-click the Scan Log.
• At the bottom click Export and choose Text file.

Save the file to your desktop and include its content in your next reply.

I am sorry to say but I still coun't get Malwarebytes to run.  I uninstalled the outdated program.  Then ran MBAM-clean as asministrator after downloading from the link.  Once it reboted I downloaded the new Malwarebytes program from the link and installed but it still errored out when it goes to update.

 

The Error reads:

 

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has stopped working

->Check Online for Solution

->Close Program

1: Download netconf replacement tool from the link below

2: Unzip the zip file to Extract the "Net Conf Fix" folder on your desktop.

3: Once extracted, open the Net Conf Fix folder.

4: Double click on the net-replacement.bat file. If you are using Windows Vista or higher, please **right-click** the net-replacement.bat file and click Run as Administrator from the menu.

5: After the tool has run, please do a Logoff >> Shutdown >> Restart for a new Windows session.

Thank you for the help.  Following your instruction I got Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to update and scan.  It ended up cleaning up 5 threats.  Is there a next step or just make sure it always runs?

Post-cleanup procedures:

 

 
Download DelFix by Xplode and save it to your desktop.

• Run the tool by right click on the icon and Run as administrator option.
• Make sure that these ones are checked:
  • Remove disinfection tools
  • Purge system restore
  • Reset system settings
• Push Run.
• The program will run for a few seconds and display a notepad report. You do not need to attach it.

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.
