Probable virus please help

Recommended Posts

I am attempting to resolve an issue I have on a server running windows Server 2008-R2. The lanmanService hangs and will not complete.  I am using security essentials for anti virus.  I downloaded and installed the latest version of malwarebytes but could not get it run.  I did an uninstall using your cleaner, rebooted and installed again but same result.  I then downloaded and ran farbar as requested.  The 2 log files are attached.

The eventlog entry in the system eventlog is of no help in determining why the server service won't start.  It just says "The Server service hung on starting."

Several other services depend on the Server Service so as a result no one can access the server.  It is a combination of Domain controller, file server and print server.

I have been working with this issue for 2 days with no success.

Thanks for the reply. It turned out to be a bad external usb hard drive. It was hanging and not allowing the lanmanservice to start which caused all the other symptoms. Once I unplugged the hard drive and rebooted, the problem went away and I was able to run malwarebytes without a problem.
