High CPU use from MBAM service.

Recommended Posts

MBAM service has been using about 30% of CPU use when running in the background. I just had a full scan a couple of days ago with no results, and I'm running another right now just to be sure. But the weird thing is, when I run the program and start a scan and then pause it--the CPU use goes down to where I assume it should be when it's running in the background. So why is it so high when it's not scanning? I have 2.0.2.1012 installed on a new machine in May and fully updated, running on Windows 8.1 64 bit. I don't know how long it's been going on, I'm not as anal about CPU usage as I've been in the past. I noticed it a few days ago. I don't know if it's relevant, but I had some problems with slow response and 'not responding' with other programs recently, and used /scannow to fix some corrupted files which seemed to help the other issues. The only other thing I'd mention is that task manager is slow to open and often has a 'not responding' warning when I switch between modules or filters. That's about the only other funky thing going on other than MBAM service. Thanks for any help.
