Unused licence

Recommended Posts

I have a lifetime licence for my computer. Some months ago I planned to get a second machine as backup, so purchased a second lifetime licence (directly from Malwarebytes, via CleverBridge) while they were still available.  The 'second computer' project has been put on hold, which raises the question of the unused 'new' licence:  Does a lifetime licence have to be validated within a certain time after purchase?  Is the 'safest' plan to validate now via a re-install on my current computer and transfer the licence later?  Or can I simply let it lie dormant until the 'second computer project' takes off?

Hi:

Staff will correct me if I am wrong, but AFAIK there is no "expiration date" for a 1-PC, consumer, lifetime license (I purchased a few extras myself while they were still available).

As long as you keep a copy of the purchase transaction paperwork, and a copy of the license ID and key someplace safe, you should be fine to activate it any time in the future.

(I keep both the confirmation emails, AND a paper copy of all of my MBAM and other licenses.)

You can install and activate the 2nd license on your 2nd computer whenever you purchase that 2nd system.

I don't think you need to install/activate it now and then transfer it later.

If you ever run into a problem, the contact info for cleverbridge is here: https://helpdesk.malwarebytes.org/hc/en-us/articles/201956473-How-do-I-obtain-my-license-key-or-confirmation-email-

and the contact info for Consumer Support is here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/support/consumer/contact/

Cheers,
