Well first off the number you have there is not valid. It's 127.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1 - you have one too many zero's in there.

127.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1 is your own local computer entry and is not really a proxy server as most think of a proxy server.

Why don't you explain in more detail what it is you're trying to accomplish so that maybe we can help you better.

Getting some logs from your computer would also greatly help. Please read the following and post back the 3 requested logs.

Diagnostic Logs

Thank you

Sorry,

The number is 127.0.0.1

I cannot get onto the internet from my HP desktop. It doesn't matter if I use IE or firefox I get the same message "the proxy server isn't responding"

I am communicating to you from my macbook pro and am not computer savvy. How do I download those programs to a computer that can't connect to anything to download?

Thanks

Hi:

Until AdvancedSetup returns -- do you have a USB stick?

Can you use that to download the diagnostic scanning tools to the MacBook and transfer the tools to the computer you are trying to fix?

Then you can use that same USB stick to transfer the 3 logs back to the MacBook for posting here in your forum thread?

<just one suggestion>

Okay I've moved your topic into the Malware Removal forum where we can assist you better.

Please download Combofix to a USB stick or burn it to a CD and then run it on the affected computer and post back the log it creates.

Please visit this webpage and read the ComboFix User's Guide:

  • Once you've read the article and are ready to use the program you can download it directly from the link below.
  • Important! - Please make sure you save combofix to your desktop and do not run it from your browser
  • Direct download link for: ComboFix.exe
  • Please make sure you disable your security applications before running ComboFix.
  • Once Combofix has completed it will produce and open a log file.  Please be patient as it can take some time to load.
  • Please attach that log file to your next reply.
  • If needed the file can be located here:  C:\combofix.txt
  • NOTE: If you receive the message "illegal operation has been attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion", just reboot the computer.
