MALWAREBYTES CRASHING

Hi, I have been reading other posts which describe the same problem as me.  I'm a bit of a Luddite unfortunately and need your help.  Today I bought Malwarebytes anti-malware premium, the tools and the anti-exploit premium as I have tons of ads, redirections all the time etc.  I have been trying to run Malwarebytes but I can't do it while connected to the web.  It runs fine when I turn the internet off, but I cannot update my databases without being connected.  I am getting teary and starting to use words I am not in the habit of using.  Please help.
